Charlotte Hungerford Hospital's Volunteer Department recently welcomed a special new member —Boss, a gentle 125-pound Newfoundland therapy dog, along with his handler, retired orthopedic surgeon Dan Gelb.

Their recent first visit was met with warm smiles, hugs, and plenty of puppy kisses from staff. Boss will be visiting weekly, offering comfort and connection to patients and staff alike. Research shows that time with therapy animals can reduce stress and promote emotional well-being, making Boss a great new addition to the Charlotte community!

Celebrate 25 years of community connection and care with Dr. Egils Bogdanovics, MD, Board-Certified Endocrinologist, as he presents a free diabetes education talk and Q&A session November 12, from 6:30–8:00 PM at the Memorial Building Conference Hall, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington.

This discussion will explore the latest in diabetes care including heart and kidney benefits of medications, nutrition information, and promising treatments to delay type 1 diabetes. Come learn, celebrate, and connect!

Today was our third annual Medical Mission in Torrington! Hundreds of volunteers came together to provide free medical services, health screenings, essential items, and support to those who need it most.

🌸 Celebrating in Full Bloom raised an amazing $30,000 for the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Pink Rose Fund, supporting breast cancer patients with care and compassion.

The event was led by cancer survivor and hospital corporator Jessica Stewart, and featured a silent auction, games, and live music by Brian Mattiello, senior system director for social impact. 💕

We recently donated two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to key locations in Northwest C***ecticut.

Fred Rosa, EMS Director, presented one AED to the New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department’s Supplemental First Responder Program, and another to the Regional Refuse Disposal District #1 municipal transfer station.

Our EMS team will also provide training to ensure staff are prepared to respond in an emergency.
