Dr. Hakim recently participated in a fundraiser for KidsPlay Children’s Museum in Torrington. Dr. Hakim and Arthrex had an interactive display of sample bones with fractures that the guests were able to fix!

Dr. Hakim was among the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society (COS) members and orthopaedic residents that joined together in DC at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference (NOLC). The Conference, held in June, is an annual national lobbying day and offers an opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons from throughout the country to advocate for the practice of medicine.

Key issues, identified by the AAOS, that were discussed with Congressional members, Senators and staffers included regulatory relief for coordinated care, opioid drug use and abuse and support for a federal Good Samaritan law to address gaps in federal and state laws and protect MDs from liability while providing care during a federal declared disaster.

CT Orthopaedic Society surgeons spent the entire day on "The Hill", advocating for the profession and patients.

Connecticut Orthopaedic Society recently hosted over 140 orthopaedic surgeons, Physician Assistants and Yale and UConn orthopaedic residents at the COS Annual Meeting. The Society hosted guest speakers from around the country.

Hello Facebook friends! Recently we’ve had several patients asking about “FACILITY FEES”. Our office does NOT charge facility fees. We are a private practice, NOT owned by a hospital, therefore we do NOT charge any hidden facility fees. While you will never have to worry about being charged a facility fee from our office, we wanted to share some information that explains exactly what facility fees are and who can charge them. Below is a link for an article from 2013 which explains this. The overall information remains the same and is still relevant.

****For those of you who don’t want to read the whole article, a facility fee is a charge that a hospital tags on to any services that are performed at a hospital or hospital owned practice. Always ask to be sure!
