Hi families! đź‘‹

This week’s helpful resource comes from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)! If you’re curious about your child’s communication development, this page is for you.

📌 What you’ll find:
✨ Typical speech and language milestones
✨ Examples of what your child might say or understand at this age
✨ Tips for supporting communication skills at home

👉 Check it out here:https://www.asha.org/public/developmental-milestones/communication-milestones/

Every child develops at their own pace — but these milestones are a great guide to see how communication skills grow.

ASHA's communication milestones are designed to help you know what to expect as your child grows and develops—and to know when to seek the guidance of an audiologist or speech language pathologist.

Happy Monday! Here is the tip of the week

đź“– Story Retelling Tip

Retelling stories helps children build important language skills like sequencing, vocabulary, and sentence structure. After reading a book together, encourage your child to tell the story back in their own words. You can help by asking simple questions like “What happened first?” or “What happened at the end?”

When practicing at home, focus on the language skills, such as using full sentences, describing events, or recalling details.

Parents can check out the blog below for easy ideas on how to support and enhance story retelling at home:

Storytelling is a skill and even at its most basic levels, it can be a challenge for some children to learn. When we teach children how to tell stories, we teach them to become better communicators.
