As a comprehensive system of care, GBMC HealthCare unites three work systems: GBMC (Greater Baltimore Medical Center), GBMC Health Partners, and Gilchrist. The 342-bed medical center (acute and sub-acute care) is located on a beautiful suburban campus and handles more than 23,000 inpatient cases and approximately 52,000 emergency room visits annually. Since its founding in Towson in 1965, GBMC's accomplishments have validated the vision of its founders to combine the best of community and university-level medicine. GBMC's main campus also includes three medical office buildings-Physicians Pavilion East, Physicians Pavilion West, and William E. In addition to its main campus located in Towson, GBMC's care can be found in several facilities located throughout the community including Baltimore City, Hunt Manor, Hunt Valley, Jarrettsville, Joppa Road, Owings Mills, Padonia, Perry Hall, and Texas Station.

GBMC kicked off the week with a spirited Patient Safety Pep Rally, bringing our teams together to celebrate the shared commitment that keeps patients and care teams safe.

This year’s Center for Patient Safety theme — “Team Up for Patient Safety” — highlights the power of collaboration in healthcare. Safer care happens when care teams, organizations, patients, and families all work together.

From March 8–14, we’ll be reflecting on the progress we’ve made, learning from one another, and recommitting to actions that help reduce preventable harm.

Thank you to our staff and providers who make patient safety a priority every day.
