✨Now Accepting A Few New Families In 2026

✨ Tuesday & Wednesday Evenings & Weekends

My name is Dr. Dana. I am a Licensed Psychologist specializing in children, adolescents, and families 🥰 I am also a busy mom to an adorable six-year-old little girl and sweet ten-year-old boy 👫

Being a Child Psychologist has been my dream since I was a Junior at Fallston High School 🧡. I have always loved working with children and started my career as a Nanny with families in the Towson area while attending Towson University as an undergraduate student studying Psychology and Criminal Justice.

In 2002, I got my first job at Johns Hopkins University as a Research Interviewer conducting mental health interviews with high school students in Baltimore City Public Schools.

I continued to work with Johns Hopkins University and colleagues for 16 years implementing evidence-based interventions with children, adolescents, parents, teachers & other school staff.

Along the way, I obtained a Ph.D. and Master’s Degree in School Psychology from the University of Missouri as well as a Master’s Degree in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.

In August 2021, I opened a solo private practice on the bottom level of a quaint little house 🏡 on Allegheny Avenue in the heart of Towson 😍 I have loved being in private practice the past 7.5 years 🙌🏻

I specialize in...

- Anxiety/Stress
- Academic/Learning problems
- ADHD/Attention Problems
- Anger/Emotion Regulation
- Behavior Problems
- Bullying/Exclusion/Relational Aggression
- Depression/Grief
- Parenting/Co-parenting
- Separation/Divorce
- Self-esteem/Confidence/Body Image
- Social Skills

*Please note that I am an out-of-network provider and do not participate with insurance companies. However, I provide my families with an invoice that they can submit to their insurance company for reimbursement.

If you are interested in scheduling a session or have questions, please text 443-807-0886 ☀️

I look forward to hearing from you!

A great reminder for anyone making New Year's resolutions this year! As observed by Mayo Clinic experts, "moms are probably the most important influence on a daughter's body image," surpassing the impact of other significant influencers such as media and peers. Given the importance of mothers as body image role models, Dr. Leslie Sim, clinical director of Mayo Clinic's eating disorders program, recommends that they avoid talk about weight, diets, and outer appearances around their daughters.

"Zero comments not only about your daughter's weight, obviously, but zero talk about your weight and even other people's weight," says Sim. Rather than focus on weight, parents can model healthy behaviors for their children such as eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. It's also important to talk with young girls about natural changes in their bodies, especially as girls approach puberty and may experience normal weight gain during this development period.

To help instill the importance of loving yourself in your Mighty Girl, regardless of your size or shape, you can find empowering books for children and teens in our blog post, "Celebrating Every Body: 35 Body Image Positive Books for Mighty Girls," at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=10912

For an excellent guide for tween girls on body image, we highly recommend "The Body Image Book for Girls: Love Yourself and Grow Up Fearless" for ages 10 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/the-body-image-book-for-girls

There is also a helpful guide to help teens build a healthy, body positive relationship with food, "The Intuitive Eating Workbook for Teens," at https://www.amightygirl.com/the-intuitive-eating-workbook-for-teens

For several great books for children and teens about the importance of loving yourself, we highly recommend "I Like Myself" for ages 3 to 8 (https://www.amightygirl.com/i-like-myself), "The Confidence Code for Girls" for ages 8 to 12 (https://www.amightygirl.com/the-confidence-code-for-girls), and "The Body Image Workbook for Teens" for ages 13+ (https://www.amightygirl.com/body-image-workbook)

If you have an older Mighty Girl, we recommend books to help girls navigate issues related to puberty, including normal changes in weight and body shape, in our post on "Talking with Tweens and Teens about their Bodies" at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11090

About Me: “Dr. Dana”

Hi! My name is Dr. Dana Marchese. I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, and licensed psychologist who grew up here in Harford County, Maryland.

Similar to many of you who are reading this, I am “juggling many balls in the air” everyday as a busy working parent and trying to live my best life. While my life is not perfect, I strive to constantly “know better, do better” and have a lot of FUN along the way!

For the past 16 years, I have been working with Johns Hopkins University and colleagues implementing evidence-based interventions with children/adolescents, parents, teachers and other school staff. I have provided services to children and their families in school, clinic, residential treatment, university, and community settings, and family’s homes. I have experience working in suburban, urban/disadvantaged, and rural schools in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, and Harford Counties, Baltimore City, as well as school districts in Missouri, Montana, and California.

Recently I joined a private practice, Dr. Michelle Sun & Associates, in Towson across from the Towson Town Center on Dulaney Valley Road. I am passionate about working with children/adolescents and their families to provide comprehensive services to support and promote their mental health, behavior, academic, and social-emotional needs so ALL children/adolescents can learn, be successful in school, and flourish in life!
