Last weekend I had the honor of being named the 2025 “Emerging Leader” by the American Physical Therapy Association of Michigan.
I have volunteered on their board of directors for 3 years and worked on everything from grass roots organizing for legislative advocacy, educational opportunities, strategic planning and serving in the PT profession’s version of congress.
Growing up, I never thought of myself as a leader or having “leadership qualities” but this experience has shown me that
1- I do
2- you don’t have to be perfect, know how to follow Robert’s Rules, or be a flawless public speaker to make an impact- especially when you collaborate with others (photo 3 of me and my vice chair Kelly Aubry, PT, DPT).
And 3- Good work+ good people is fun (Photo 2 me calling out my colleagues who are jealous of my competitive euchre skills!)
I have put my energy here because I believe in elevating services and professions like Physical Therapy which have positive ripples into their community by helping people tap into their innate resilience and power.
I’m grateful for the honor of receiving this award and for the lesson that we can all make a difference without quitting our day job, being perfect, or going it alone.
If you want to know how you can help yourself or your office, industrial, or senior caregiver team prevent injuries, improve health and satisfaction, and tap into inner resilience send me a message and let’s chat.
If you’re a PT professional and want to get involved with - we’d love to have you, send me a dm!
