🌟 Social Work Month Spotlight: Ashley, Social Services Designee

In recognition of Social Work Month, we’re proud to highlight the dedicated team members who support our residents and families every day. Meet Ashley, our Social Services Designee, whose compassion and commitment make a meaningful impact on those she serves.

Ashley began her journey in long-term care as a CNA, where she spent several years building strong relationships with residents and their families. That hands-on experience shaped her passion for caregiving and led her to grow into her current role. Being promoted within the same facility has been especially rewarding, allowing her to continue supporting the same community in a new and impactful way.

In her role, Ashley provides guidance, support, and advocacy for residents and their families during important moments in their care. She is deeply committed to ensuring each individual feels heard, respected, and valued. Her favorite part of working in long-term care is being a voice for residents and families, helping make sure their needs are understood and met.

Ashley attended community college, where she studied general studies, and has continued to expand her knowledge through hands-on experience in the field.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two sons. She loves traveling, doing puzzles, and reading, and values creating meaningful memories with her family.

We are grateful for Ashley’s dedication and the compassion she brings to our community each day. 💙

It’s Wellness Center Wednesday, and with spring break just around the corner, many of us are swapping the snowy views for a change of scenery. Whether you’re hitting the open road or catching a flight, travel can sometimes throw a wrench in your wellness routine.

Here are a few tips to help you stay feeling your best while you’re on the move:

🚗 For the Road Trippers

• Take frequent breaks: Make a point to stop every couple of hours and take a short break from driving and walk around. Rest stops usually have sidewalks and walking paths.
• Smart Snacking: Pack a cooler with pre-cut veggies, hummus, or apple slices. It’s much easier to bypass the temptation of processed road-trip snacks when you have healthy options ready to go.
• Posture Check: Use a small lumbar roll or even a rolled-up towel behind your lower back to maintain your natural curve while driving.

✈️ For the Frequent Flyers

• Hydration is Key: Airplane cabin air is notoriously dry. Aim to drink 8oz of water for every hour you’re in the air to prevent fatigue and headaches.
• In-Seat Mobility: While seated, perform "ankle pumps" by flexing your feet up and down. This simple move helps maintain circulation in your lower legs during long flights.

☀️ For Everyone

• Protect Your Sleep: Travel can disrupt your circadian rhythm. Try to stick to your usual bedtime as much as possible to ensure you actually return feeling rested.

We hope that anyone traveling this week has a safe and restful vacation. If you’re not leaving town, the Wellness Center is open for business and ready for your outpatient therapy needs. Give us a call at (231) 932-3172
