Happy vision therapy graduation to this incredible young lady. So much heart and soul went into her rehab program and it is bittersweet to see miss Abbi graduate. Time to take on the world!

Abbi graciously shared a message with future patients:

"My name is Abbi. I went to eye therapy at Excel too. It is kinda weird. You do all these things that don’t seem to help, but they really do help. There are many fun and strange projects that you work on. I did it to help me read and see better after I hit my head in basketball. It affected many things like driving, looking back and forth during class, and how much light my eyes could handle.I noticed my homework was taking much longer and was much harder than previously. Eye problems are more than just blurry words. I had trouble with my eyes working together both up close and faraway. I didn’t know anything was wrong with my eyes for a while after I hit my head, but I started to see all the things I used to be able to do that I couldn’t anymore. After working on my eyes for a few months, I could tell that it was making a difference in my eyesight and ability. It helps retrain your eyes. It will probably be hard and kinda frustrating at first, but don’t worry it gets better. Doing the exercises and practicing helps a lot. It will start to be a part of your routine after a while. If you take the time, it will help you in the long run. It starts to be fun seeing all the progress you make and seeing the skills you have learned/relearned in everyday life. Going to Excel will be worth it, but you can’t just show up. It helps if you are ready to learn and are open to new things. Don’t worry about messing up, everyone does. It will be kinda weird seeing how you do in the beginning, but you can see just how much you can progress. I would recommend going to eye therapy to anyone unsure about their eyes. You become close to your eye therapists and other staff members. As you progress, you will start to feel better. At times, it may feel like you aren’t progressing, but don’t worry it will happen soon enough. Progress happens in small steps and big steps. Most of the time you can barely notice progress. Keep going!"

We are so āļøproudāļø of this therapy graduate right here! Terri had difficulties reading when she came to us, felt like her eyes were jumping on the page, was skipping lines, using her finger to track her place, and overall was tired when she tried to read.

After a lot of hard work and consistency with her vision training Terri has officially completed a 400+ page book and is back to calling herself a ā€œreader!ā€
