We are all so grateful for those who served, kept us updated, and protected us during this storm. I just felt like I needed to also make you aware of ALL those who showed up to take care of our vulnerable and older adult population in the various senior homes. Owners, administrators, caregiving staff and kitchen staff that spent the night in facilities to ensure the residents were cared for and fed, throughout the day and night. WOW, just wow! Such committment, compassion and love for what they do! 🥰🥰🥰

Loneliness and isolation can increase health risks for seniors, but Traverse City senior centers offer community and purpose to combat these issues.

One of the many things I am grateful for today are, all the caregivers and cooks working in care homes on Thanksgiving. Your compassion often goes unnoticed, but you are blessings to so many and I thank you for what you do. ❤️

This is the time of year that many people are looking for senior living before the snow starts. If you're contemplating this yourself, just know that many others are, as well. We do have a couple of complexes that offer a short term lease for the winter months. Maybe, last winter you said, "next year, I'm moving somewhere that makes life easier." Well, it's next year. When I started Alliance for Senior Housing 25 years ago, we had nursing homes and adult foster care homes. Assisted Living was still pretty new and Independent Living Retirement complexes were just starting. So much has changed for the better over these years! These complexes have had to! The Seniors demanded it by the choices they were making. More space, private rooms/apartments w/ private bathrooms, more care and more adult activities! We've come a long way and I am so proud to have been a part of it.

PARENTS- It's been 6 years since I lost my parents. When they moved closer to be near me, my life became hectic with doctor's appointments, ER visits, bringing them to my home for dinners, and so on. The best part though? Watching my mom and dad snuggle, be silly, and sometimes even a bit flirtatious; as seen in the above cover photo.
Our relationship grew in ways never expected. Looking back, I'm so grateful they were near me.
