Our community is in crisis: overloaded shelters and people with nowhere to go being forced to sleep outside. Meanwhile, further cuts so social programs threaten to send even more people into homelessness as winter looms, threatening the lives of those sleeping rough.

Jubilee House will be CLOSED for Thanksgiving. Please see our previous post for a collection of Thanksgiving meal offerings around down.

On Tuesday 11/25 Jean (our wonderful and talented hair stylist friend) will be offering free haircuts from noon to 2:00pm.

Our schedule is practically normal for the rest of the week, thanks to our lovely new volunteers!

Jubilee House will be CLOSED for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday 11/27.

But here is a collection of Thanksgiving meals which will be offered around town in the days surrounding the holiday! Hosted by our friends at Disability Network Northern Michigan, The Salvation Army Traverse City and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jubilee House will be open for regular hours this week, with some services restrictions on Wednesday and Thursday. Many, many thanks to all our new wonderful volunteers!

Jubilee intends to be open for normal hours all week, barring any unforeseen illness or injury, with limited services on some days.

CALLING ALL DUDES: our women's coat rack is full, but our men's coat rack is all but empty and snow is forecasted for this weekend. Winter is coming!

Please drop off MEN'S heavy winter coats (size large and XL especially, with hoods, and waterproof if possible) at 325 Washington St, Mon-Fri 10am-5pm. You can park in the driveway off of Washington St between Jubilee and Grace Church, come up the wooden ramp to the back door, and ring the doorbell.

Please do not leave donations when we are closed.

Jubilee will be open all day Monday (yay!!) because our volunteers have rallied to allow our friend Jean to offer FREE HAIRCUTS starting at 11am.

We expect to be open as normal for the rest of the week, with some services restrictions due to short staffing.

Jubilee will have to close early today, Wednesday 10/29 at 2pm, due to short staffing. Everybody is getting sick!

This week, as in weeks previous, Jubilee will be closed Monday morning. The rest of the week we expect to be open as usual, with some services limitations.

When we closed early at 2pm today, we had to ask 15 people to leave. We had to ask them to move along into the cold, rainy day, to try and find other shelter. 15 people who were already soaking wet and cold, 15 people who have very few backup options--and that doesn't count the tens of others who learned that we'd be closing early and left before this photo was taken.

We are in enormous need of volunteers. Please, if you are able or if you know anyone who might enjoy serving with us, fill out our volunteer form. If you are curious about Jubilee and want to learn more before you explore committing to a regular shift, please stop by the house for a tour.

Our greatest needs are:
Monday morning shift (9:30am-2pm) AND Monday afternoon shift (1:30pm-6pm)
Wednesday afternoon shift (1:30pm-6pm)
Thursday afternoon shift (1:30pm-6pm)

Jubilee house will close early today, Thursday 10/23. We will be closing at 2:00pm due to lack of staffing.
