Unpopular opinion: You don’t need to collect colostrum before birth.

Colostrum is the very first milk your body makes. It’s thick, golden, and often called “liquid gold” because it’s packed with antibodies and nutrients. It’s designed to be given in tiny amounts—the exact perfect portion for a newborn’s brand-new stomach.

But here’s the thing: your body already has this covered. The moment your baby is born, your body produces colostrum right when they need it most. You don’t need a stash in your freezer for your baby to thrive.

Of course, there are unique medical situations where having some extra colostrum on hand can help. But for the vast majority of pregnancies, collecting it ahead of time isn’t necessary.

Pregnancy already comes with a never-ending to-do list. Why add one more thing that doesn’t usually make a difference?

You are enough. Your body is enough. Trust that design. And let yourself cross this one off.
