In 2016 he decided to dedicate his care exclusively to the treatment of venous disorders and therefore started Northern Michigan Vein Specialists with offices in both Traverse City and Cadillac MI. Here at NMVS, we treat the full spectrum of venous disease from venous ulcers to edema to visible or ropy varicosities, all the way down to cosmetic spider veins. We strive to provide all of our patients with the best care available in a comfortable office environment, and we are at the forefront of the latest venous treatment techniques. While Dr Heeringa treats all of the vein disorders that insurance considers medically necessary, both Kali VanStee PA-C and Diana Seehase BSN treat cosmetic spider veins with cosmetic sclerotherapy and VeinGogh. In addition to helping with the veins, Kali also offers BOTOX®, and B-12 injections! Give us a call today, we'd love to chat and see if we are the right fit to help with your venous or cosmetic needs!

Understanding the difference between Botox and dermal fillers can help you make confident decisions about your care. Botox works by relaxing targeted muscles to soften lines caused by movement, while dermal fillers add volume to restore or enhance facial contours. Our team is happy to walk you through your options and create a treatment plan tailored to you.

Venous ulcers are slow-healing wounds that often appear near the ankle and are commonly linked to poor vein circulation. When blood pools in the legs, pressure builds and the skin is unable to properly to heal.

Treating the wound is important, but treating the underlying vein disease can help support healing and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive treatment used to close damaged veins that cause varicose veins and leg symptoms. By redirecting blood flow to healthier veins, RFA can help improve circulation and relieve discomfort.

Our patients return to normal activities very quickly, and many insurance plans cover treatment when medically necessary.

Pregnancy brings many changes to the body, including changes to your veins. As the body adapts to increased blood volume and hormonal shifts, veins, particularly in the legs, may work harder to return blood to the heart. This can contribute to the development of varicose veins during pregnancy.

Supportive measures such as regular movement, elevating the legs when resting, and wearing compression stockings may help promote healthy circulation and improve comfort.
Monitoring vein changes during pregnancy and after delivery is also important, as some vein concerns may persist postpartum.

Our team is here to support vein health during pregnancy and beyond.
