More Than A Family Practice: Patient-Centered Primary Care and Counseling Services for All All our services are available for people with or without insurance.

Traverse Health Clinic is a community health center providing accessible, integrated medical and behavioral health/counseling services. We fill a gap and ensure that EVERYONE has access to care -- regardless of your type of health care coverage, or your ability to pay. It's our mission to ensure that no one' health gets left behind. We are a non-profit organization led by a Board of Directors made up mostly of patients, just like you. Traverse Health Clinic's primary care is available for all ages. Our behavioral health/counseling services are available for ages 12 and up (you do not have to establish primary care with us to access behavioral health/counseling services). We always welcome new patients and no one is ever turned away because of their type of health care coverage, or because they can't pay.

If you are in need of winter clothes, make your way to the Community Clothing Closet from Up North Pride!!

Thank you everyone that donated items for our clothing closet!! We are excited to open the FREE Winter Clothing Closet in a couple days and hope you can help het the word out that we are here for anyone needing warn clothes, jackets, hats, scarves, shoes, or maybe something festive for the holiday season!

Also, if there is anyone with some time to spare during our open hours, we will gladly take some volunteer help to keep the Closet running smoothly! Email info@upnorthpride.com if you would like to help out or want more details!

Winter is here in Northern Michigan, and with it comes all those lovely weather conditions. So as you prepare to go out and about, say for an upcoming appointment at Traverse Health Clinic, here are some things to keep in mind:

Give yourself ample travel time - conditions can change quickly
When driving, clear off your vehicle - this includes brake lights, headlights and windows for your visibility AND others
Don't drive distracted - put the phone away, and give ample following distance from the car in front.
When walking, slow things down - ice can often be hidden under fresh snowfall

Stay safe, and cozy, out there!

Traverse Health Clinic is proud to announce a generous philanthropic gift from Dan and Marsha Edson to support the creation of a new in-house pharmacy that will expand access to affordable, convenient, and coordinated care for patients. In recognition of their transformative support, the new pharmacy will be named the Edson Family Pharmacy.

This contribution carries special significance, as Dan Edson previously served as Traverse Health Clinic’s Board President for 16 years, playing a central role in shaping the organization’s growth and mission-driven impact.

The Edson’s investment provides the foundational funding needed to begin renovation, licensing, and initial operations for the pharmacy, which will serve patients across the region, including those facing financial, transportation, or insurance barriers. The in-house pharmacy will help close critical gaps in care by enabling patients to receive medications directly at the Clinic—improving adherence, streamlining patient experience, and strengthening overall health outcomes.

“We are deeply grateful for Dan and Marsha’s vision and belief in our mission,” said Casey Kandow, CEO of Traverse Health Clinic. “The Edson Family Pharmacy will be a major step forward in our commitment to delivering integrated, patient-centered care. Their generosity accelerates a project that will benefit our patients and community for years to come.”

The Edson Family Pharmacy at Traverse Health Clinic is expected to open Summer 2026, with updates to be shared as work progresses.

More than a Family Practice

We’ve been making health care accessible in our community for almost 45 years. We offer affordable primary care and behavioral health/counseling services, complimented by a variety of support services to ensure nobody has barriers to the care they need.

We always welcome new patients. All of Traverse Health Clinic’s services are available for people with or without insurance. We do accept most major insurance plans, Medicaid, McLaren, Meridian, Molina, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicare. We also offer a sliding fee scale based on family income, as well as affordable payment plans for out-of-pocket expenses. It’s our mission to ensure that no one’s health gets left behind. And no one is ever turned away because they can’t pay.

Traverse Health Clinic's primary care is available for all ages -- from infants to seniors and everyone in between. Our behavioral health/counseling services are available for everyone ages 12 and up, no matter where you receive your primary care. You don’t need a referral to make an appointment with one of our licensed, on-site therapists.
