Keep an eye on your horses…. The random changes can send horses into a colic frenzy
🌡️✨ Sudden Stratospheric Warming… what the hell does THAT mean?! ✨🌡️
Alright you glorious little weather nerds, and neurospicy besties, gather ‘round the Weather Daddy Bungalow because things are gonna get interesting in the upper atmosphere 😂
A Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) event happens when temperatures waaay up in the stratosphere suddenly spike by 30–60°F (or more!) over just a few days. This rapid warm-up can disrupt the polar vortex, weaken it, wobble it, stretch it, or straight-up yeet chunks of arctic air toward the mid-latitudes.
😳 Think of it like:
The polar vortex is a spinning top. An SSW comes along, flicks it, and suddenly that top is drunk, confused, and stumbling around the Northern Hemisphere.
What does this mean for us?
➡️ NOT an instant snurstorm
➡️ NOT guaranteed doom or glory
➡️ But it can change the storm track, crank up winter chaos, or load the pattern with cold outbreaks 1–3 weeks later.
Basically: it’s Mother Nature loading the weather Jenga tower. Which block she pulls next is TBD 😂
✨ Bottom line:
An SSW is a big-deal atmospheric event that can set the stage for colder, stormier, more chaotic weather later, but it’s not instantaneous. I’ll keep an eye on the pattern like I always do, so y’all don’t get blindsided by a surprise blizzard, ice storm, or 70° day followed by “snur” five hours later.
The forecast models are showing a big SSW occurring over the polar regions for the end of November, which would have serious implications potentially on whether in the United States during the month of December. I don’t know how that’s gonna impact us yet.
Might as well hear it from me because it’s making the rounds on the socials and people love making hot garbage click bait. 🤣
Until then, hydrate, touch some grass, and enjoy the calm while the stratosphere decides what personality it’s going to have next 💅🌬️❄️
K bye
