Did you make a resolution to tweak your eating habits? Here are 4 tips for your healthy eating resolutions:

🍽️ Add an element of fun. Find foods you enjoy, and remember, all foods fit in a balanced diet.

🍽️ Start where you are and take small steps. Small is smaller than you think. It can mean looking, with a nonjudgmental and curious mindset, at what your current food routines look like.

🍽️ Add food instead of subtracting it. Focus on adding enjoyable nutrient dense foods that you like and are prepared in a way that tastes good.

🍽️ Be kind to yourself. When we are kind to ourselves, we are more likely to look for ways around obstacles and continue to move forward in a way that works in the moment.

What has helped you achieve the goals you set?

Don’t forget your helmet. Wearing one can reduce head injuries by 30–50% and may help prevent a serious trip to the emergency department.

Amy Rodriguez is a lung screening navigator at Lutheran Hospital in Denver and helps guides patients through early detection of lung cancer.

Amy helps to oversee 1,400 patients with the goal of catching cancers at level one or two.

The American Lung Association’s State of Lung Cancer report for 2025 shared that in Colorado 31.7% of lung cancer cases are caught at an early state, which is higher than the national rate of 28.1%.

Amy has been called a lifeboat: someone to trust, someone to call when the path ahead feels overwhelming.

A few days before Christmas, 3-year-old Ty Siebert was admitted with croup and influenza A. His parents and sisters spent time at the hospital with him as he recovered.

One evening, as Ty’s mom stepped into the hallway to ask a question, a few of our nurses met her with an idea. They wondered if it would be okay to arrange something special for Ty.

That evening, Dr. Ricky Gardner showed up dressed as Santa.

He didn’t just visit Ty. He spent time with his sisters too. He helped them feel seen, heard, and part of it all. He even called each of them by name.

But the story didn’t end there.

Behind the scenes, our team worked with Ty’s parents to set up a small Christmas display just outside his hospital room. They brought in a gift for him, and we helped create a moment around it with a tree and a handwritten card.

On Christmas morning, Ty asked to go for a walk. As he stepped out of his room with his mom, he saw the display waiting for him. The tree. The gift. His name on the card.

Later that morning, our nurses did everything they could to help the Sieberts finish their holiday at home.

It wasn’t the Christmas they expected. But it became one they’ll never forget.

“It wasn’t just something they did. It was something they felt,” said Ty’s dad.

We’re proud to work alongside caregivers like Dr. Ricky Gardner and so many others who lead with heart, support families, and create moments that truly matter.

🎉 Caregiver Spotlight: Our Facilities Team

Not all caregivers wear scrubs. Some carry toolboxes, push snowblowers, and know exactly which breaker to flip when the lights go out.

Dan (left), Jeff (middle), and Corey (right), are the extraordinary team that keeps our hospital running smoothly. They take care of everything from plumbing and power to safety and snow removal.

What makes them stand out isn't just what they do. It's how they do it. With heart, teamwork, and a deep commitment to this hospital and the people in it.

They're not just maintaining a building. They're creating the space where healing happens. Thank you so much for everything you do every day. We see it, we appreciate it, and we're grateful for you.

Our first baby of 2026 has arrived! 🎉

At exactly 11:11 p.m. on January 3, we helped welcome Bowen Billings into the world here at Bear River Valley Hospital.

Born to proud parents Carsen and Kinley, Bowen weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and measured 18 inches long.

The timing gave us a reason to pause. People often think of 11:11 as a moment to make a wish or hope for something good. For this sweet family, it was the beginning of something truly special.

We’re so happy for the Billings family and grateful to be part of their story.

Let’s Talk About Nitrous Oxide During Childbirth!

Did you know that nitrous oxide is a safe and effective option for pain relief during labor, especially for those aiming for a low-intervention birth?

Here’s why more parents-to-be are considering it:

✨ Simple & Flexible: You control when and how much you use it, giving you more control in your birth experience.

✨ Quick On, Quick Off: It starts working almost immediately and leaves your system quickly, so there’s no lingering impact on you or your baby.

✨ Staying Present: Many find it helps take the edge off pain while still allowing them to feel in control and fully present for the birth process.

✨ Low Intervention: Nitrous oxide doesn’t require an IV or major monitoring, keeping things natural and minimizing disruption.

This option empowers birthing individuals to manage pain while maintaining mobility and involvement in the delivery process. Talk to your care provider to see if nitrous oxide could be part of your birth plan!

We’re proud to share that Bear River Hospital has once again earned Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital status for 2024, awarded by The Chartis Center for Rural Health — marking our fifth consecutive year receiving this national recognition! 🎉

To celebrate this milestone, our team fired up the grill and came together for a well-deserved BBQ celebration 🍔🌭— because excellence tastes even better with good food and great people.
