I love masking! But not for the reasons you may think 😉
Did you know massage therapists have to always be thinking about WHERE we are breathing??? To avoid the creepy feeling of someone breathing on your skin we turn our heads, breathe out the side of the mouth, or worse—hold our breath! 😳
Especially when someone is face up and we’re working on the head and neck. Your face is DIRECTLY underneath my nostrils 😤😂
Not to mention the constant paranoia wondering if you can smell what I had for lunch 🥪 or coffee breath. Mints are a core part of massage therapist culture (along with granola bars lmao).
Of course I also work in close, extended contact with many people so I never know what I’ve been exposed to. I have immunocompromised and disabled clients and I do everything I can to minimize my risk to them.
So I actually prefer masking! I love these super comfy 3M N95 Aura masks that don’t put any pressure on my ears. I can take the biggest, windiest breaths I need without worrying where that exhale is landing. 😮💨
