🌮💃 Taco Tuesday was a fiesta to remember! 💃🌮

Our Activities Team brought the flavor with a build-your-own taco bar, and our residents were all smiles from the very first bite 😋

There were plenty of laughs, full plates, and maybe even a few extra tacos enjoyed 😉
Now that’s what we call a taco-tastic day! 🌮✨

🤝💙 Stronger Together in Service & Support 💙🤝

Vancrest of Eaton and Vancrest Upper Valley partnered together to strengthen the support available for our Passport providers through Catholic Social Services.

By working side by side, both facilities are helping expand resources, improve access, and ensure individuals and families receive the guidance and care they deserve. Collaboration like this is what it’s all about compassion, teamwork, and making sure no one falls through the cracks.

We are proud of what can be accomplished when our facilities come together in service and continue building connections that make a real difference in people’s lives. 💙

🌿 Stress Awareness Month 🌿

April is Stress Awareness Month, a great reminder that stress is a normal part of life, but managing it in healthy ways can make a big difference in how we feel each day. Everyone experiences stress differently and learning how to recognize and cope with it is an important part of overall wellness.

Ways to Help Manage Stress:
1️⃣ Take slow, deep breaths – Simple breathing exercises can help calm the mind and body in moments of stress.
2️⃣ Stay active – Gentle movement like walking, stretching, or chair exercises can help release tension and improve mood.
3️⃣ Talk it out – Sharing your thoughts with a friend, family member, or staff member can help you feel supported and understood.
4️⃣ Stick to a routine – Having a daily schedule can create a sense of stability and comfort.
5️⃣ Take breaks when needed – Resting and giving yourself time to recharge is important for both mental and physical health.
6️⃣ Do things you enjoy – Hobbies, music, reading, or spending time outdoors can help reduce stress and bring joy to your day.

Remember, managing stress doesn’t mean eliminating it completely, it means finding healthy ways to cope and taking care of yourself along the way. Small steps each day can lead to a calmer, healthier mindset. 🌿

Meet Bobby ❤️

Bobby came to us in December 2025 after an extensive three-month stay between MVH and LTACH. When he arrived at Vancrest- Upper Valley, he had a trach, feeding tube, and required ventilator support, along with extensive assistance for mobility, transfers, and daily activities.

Through hard work and determination, along with the incredible support of our Rehab Team (PT, OT, ST), nursing and aides, respiratory therapy, and our in-house physician, Bobby began reaching milestone after milestone. From ventilator and trach removal to enjoying food and drinks again, and even participating in a home assessment where he made sure to test getting on his Harley, his progress has been nothing short of amazing.

Today, we are so proud to say goodbye to Bobby as he returns home with his wife. Watching him walk out our doors and get into his car, waving goodbye, is a moment we will never forget.

Stories like Bobby’s remind us why we do what we do every single day 💙

🧠 Brain Health & Exercise 🧠

Keeping your mind active is just as important as staying physically healthy. Regular mental exercise can help maintain memory, improve focus, and support overall well-being.

Ways to Boost Brain Health:
1️⃣ Challenge your mind with puzzles and games – Crossword puzzles, word searches, Sudoku, and memory games help keep your thinking sharp.
2️⃣ Read regularly – Books, newspapers, or magazines provide new ideas and stimulate your mind.
3️⃣ Learn something new – Picking up an instrument, exploring new hobbies, or trying creative arts helps your brain grow and adapt.
4️⃣ Stay socially connected – Talking with friends, participating in group activities, or joining clubs can boost mood and mental function.
5️⃣ Practice mindfulness and reflection – Journaling, meditation, or simple breathing exercises help reduce stress, which can affect memory.
6️⃣ Incorporate gentle physical activity – Walking, stretching, or chair yoga supports brain health by keeping blood flowing to the brain.

Even small, consistent mental exercises each day can make a meaningful difference in memory, focus, and overall mental sharpness. A little effort goes a long way toward a healthier, sharper mind!
