🎬✨ Mindfulness at the Movies! ✨🎬
Have you ever caught yourself having an ineffective thought… like noticing someone on their phone at the theater and instantly thinking, “Ugh, they’re so rude!”? 😣📱
In DBT Mindfulness, we practice Taking a Non-Judgmental Stance — which means noticing what’s happening without layering on the extra criticism. Instead of jumping to conclusions, we shift to descriptions like:
➡️ “Their phone is on.”
➡️ “I’m feeling distracted.”
No judgment, just observing.
This skill is part of the Mindfulness Module and helps us:
✨ Reduce emotional intensity
✨ Respond instead of react
✨ Stay present in the moment
✨ Improve relationships
✨ Increase inner calm
Taking a non-judgmental stance doesn’t mean you have to like the situation — it simply helps you see things more clearly so you can choose a more effective response. 🧠💛
So next time you’re at the movies (or anywhere!) and your mind jumps into Judge Mode… try pausing, noticing, and shifting to a descriptive, non-judgmental stance. 🎥👀💫
