We had an incredible time at the Michigan Substance Abuse Impact Conference!

Bruce presented on “Trends in Substance Use: What’s changing, what to look for, and how to respond,” sparking meaningful conversations around evolving challenges and evidence-based solutions. We were grateful to connect with so many of our valued partners—and to meet new professionals equally committed to improving outcomes in behavioral health.

Special thanks to our partners Liberty House Recovery Center, Newport Healthcare, Henry Ford Maplegrove Center, The University of Michigan Collegiate Recovery Program, Michigan State University Collegiate Recovery Program, and more for the continued collaboration and shared commitment to quality care.

Collaboration is key to ensuring individuals receive the comprehensive, integrated care they deserve.

We recently spent time with Clinical Director Jessica Hillen recording a new series of simple, encouraging therapy micro-win tips we will begin sharing next month. As always, Jessica brought warmth, wisdom, and a grounded clinical perspective to every take.

But she was not the only one on set.

In the background, our unofficial office companion Bob the red-wing blackbird made an appearance. Bob is a familiar part of life at our West location, which is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery that brings a sense of calm and connection to the work we do each day.

He is not the only local personality, either. We are also regularly visited by a cardinal couple, Susan and Stanly. Sue is especially well known for stopping by the windows, admiring her reflection, and tapping hello to staff.

This little behind-the-scenes moment was a fun reminder that healing spaces are shaped not only by compassionate people, but also by the environment around them. We are excited to start sharing Jessica’s practical micro-win therapy tips next month.

Two days. Dozens of selfies. One clear mission.

Last week at P4P (and during our visits with a few incredible professional partners the day before) River's Bend co-owner Bruce Goldberg did what he does best… brought people together... and made sure everyone fit in the selfie 📸.

These photos aren’t just fun moments, they represent collaboration, connection, and a shared commitment to advancing behavioral health across Michigan. When providers come together, we create stronger pathways to care for the individuals and families who need it most.

We’re officially calling this a new tradition: Bruce Selfies

Because when Bruce is around, you can count on:
✔ Everyone making it into the shot
✔ A lot of laughs
✔ And meaningful conversations about how we can do more—together

We took dozens of selfies over these two days—so if you don’t see yourself here, don’t worry… Bruce will find you next time 😉

Thank you to all of our partners for your collaboration and dedication to breaking the stigma around mental health and substance use.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of being a part of the P4P Day Conference, where an important and often overlooked topic took center stage: the hidden addiction of gambling.

Conversations like these matter. Gambling addiction can be difficult to recognize, yet its impact on individuals and families can be profound. Events like this help bring awareness, education, and compassion to an issue that deserves far more attention.

We are incredibly grateful to the sponsors who made this meaningful day possible:
Pasadena Villa Psychiatric Treatment Network
Charlie Health
Skywood Recovery
Metropolitan Behavioral Health
Rose Hill Center
Henry Ford Brighton Center for Recovery
Advanced Psychiatry
Newport Healthcare
Henry Ford Maplegrove Center
Liberty House Recovery Center

Your commitment to education and collaboration helps move the conversation forward and supports those who may be struggling in silence.
