Proud to share our recently published case report describing the Dual-Achilles Reconstruction for Chronic Quadriceps Rupture (DARC) technique. Chronic quadriceps tendon ruptures with significant retraction remain a difficult surgical challenge when primary repair is no longer feasible. This dual-layer Achilles allograft reconstruction was designed to restore tendon continuity, improve load sharing, and address large chronic defects. Grateful for a great collaborative effort and the opportunity to contribute to the growing body of work on complex extensor mechanism reconstruction. Here’s a classic right shoulder X-ray demonstrating an acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation, likely a high-grade injury given the visible elevation of the clavicle. These injuries are common in contact sports and result from a direct blow to the shoulder or a fall on an outstretched arm.

💡 AC joint injuries are graded I-VI based on the extent of ligamentous damage and displacement.
🦴 Management ranges from conservative treatment with rest and rehab (low-grade) to surgical stabilization (high-grade).

💬 Always correlate with mechanism of injury and physical exam findings.

Torn quad tendon? We rebuilt it. 💥

This patient had a complete quadriceps tendon rupture — one of the most debilitating injuries affecting knee extension. Without surgical repair, walking, climbing stairs, or standing from a chair becomes nearly impossible.

I performed a quadriceps tendon reconstruction, reattaching the tendon to the patella using suture anchors. Now just weeks out, they’re back on their feet and regaining full functional strength.

Key point: Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are critical. Delay leads to tendon retraction and muscle atrophy, making reconstruction harder and recovery slower.
