Here at Eddy Memorial, we're ALL about bringing the generations together, like this recent visit from students at the Algonquin Middle School in the Averill Park Central School District, Ms. Longendyke’s class first visited our residents in October, bringing with them board games and other fun activities. Both the younger and the older generations enjoyed time together socializing and playing games, with the teachers and our activities staff looking out. This time, the friendly visitors brought bingo to play and then read to the residents. Our residents have so enjoyed this great intergenerational program that they're already asking when the kids will be back! We can hardly wait! Thank you to all the kids and teachers who made this such a special day here!

Here at Eddy Memorial, our residents are getting pretty CRAFTY! At our Craft Group session recently, we strung dried orange slices into beautiful garlands. Many residents loved their handmade creations so much that they decided to hang theirs in their rooms to add a touch of beauty and a fragrant scent of citrus in the air. Designer decor AND air freshener in one! Pretty cool!

Here at Eddy Memorial, we LOVE welcoming new FAMILY and celebrating new SMILES! We rolled out the welcoming committee today as we greeted two of our newest residents joining us from St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center! We presented each with a beautiful succulent plant for their exciting arrival. But that's not all. Our team is also working hard on something extra special for every new resident to come -- they're designing a personalized rocking chair that we will printing from a 3D printer! It's all our way of saying, "Welcome Home!"

"And they call it Puppy Love..!" No, that's not just a line from the hit song by Donny Osmond, it's what's playing out firsthand here at Eddy Memorial! Staff recently held a special "Puppy Day" bringing in their furry, four-legged friends to visit with our beloved residents. The visits with Moxie, Myrtle, and Theo went so well that it's a safe bet we'll be hosting more "dog days" again this summer! Check out the big smiles, petting, and cuddling going on! It has been a heartwarming and fun-filled year here at Eddy Memorial as our beloved residents have enjoyed many celebrations and special moments together. We welcomed our adorable puppy mascots Theo and Myrtle, adopted new feline family members Mr. Biggums and Lizzie, and graduated newly certified CNAs. We also hosted a yummy Ice Cream Day, a themed Sports Day, plus Older Americans Month and National Nursing Home Week! We would like to express our gratitude to all our cherished residents and their families for sharing these wonderful moments with us. Thank you for entrusting your care to Eddy Memorial and making it a wonderful place to call home! Wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season and the best New Year yet!
