The founder and chairman of Amigo Mobility International, Allan âAlâ R. Thieme of Saginaw, died on Tuesday, March 3, at the age of 88 while surrounded by family at home following a short battle with cancer, according to his daughter Jennifer Kehres.
Thieme invented the Amigo in 1968 to help his late wife, Marie Thieme, who had multiple sclerosis. The Amigo is a power-operated vehicle for people with walking disabilities.
