CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER!!

The Beulah Cemetery Foundation has planned a clean-up day at Beulah Cemetery this Saturday, March 15, at 9:00. David Dewberry has done an amazing job repairing and cleaning the markers. There are limbs and other debris that need to be removed. We will also be raking leaves to spruce up the landscape. I hope you can help us this Saturday.

The January meeting of the Pike County Historical, Genealogical & Preservation Society will be Sunday, January 22 at 2:00 at the Pioneer Museum of Alabama. Courtney Pinkard, reference coordinator for the Alabama Department of Archives and History will present our program on the Sanborn Maps. The Sanborn Maps were originally created to allow fire insurance companies to assess their total liability in urbanized areas of the United States. Because these maps contained detailed information about properties, they have become valuable research tools.
Don't miss this exciting program. All of our programs are open to the public.

Troy Bank and Trust Company turns 116 today! On September 5, 1906, Troy Bank and Trust became the 4th bank in Troy with capital stock of $50,000. The officers were Charles Henderson, president; Jame Murphree, cashier; F. L. Jones, first assistant cashier; and Jerre A. Henderson, second assistant cashier.
The photo above is where the bank was located in 1926, on the northwests corner of the square where Landmark Realty is presently located.
The bank now has 16 locations and remains one of Alabama's strongest and largest community banks. Happy Birthday!
