In May, representatives from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities visited our team to film a practice and interview athletes, along with our Community Connections Manager, Patrick Kilbane, and volunteer coach, Doug Stone. The film crew even caught up with the bowlers who headed to the State Tournament in June to capture the rest of their season. The video highlights how our approach to Special Olympics is to create opportunities for athletes, while helping them make friendships, gain confidence and independence, and become more active in their community.

On Monday at our Board Meeting, we were fortunate to have 3 elected officials join us as we said “goodbye” and “thank you” to 2 outgoing Board Members - Jerry Herbe and Joe Fulker. Both have been long-serving members of our Board who had also previously served on the Board for RT Industries. State Senator Steve Huffman, State Representative Johnathan Newman and Commissioner Ted Mercer joined our meeting to present both Joe and Jerry with letters of commendation for their service. We are grateful to both of them for their time and dedication to our mission.
