April is Alcohol Awareness Month.

At Oakland Community Health Network, we recognize the impact alcohol can have on individuals, families, and communities—and we believe in education, support, and hope.

Facts to know:
• Alcohol misuse can impact mental health, relationships, and overall well-being
• Many people use alcohol to cope with stress, anxiety, or trauma
• Recovery is possible—and support makes a difference

Helpful tips:
• Check in with yourself about your drinking habits
• Find healthy coping strategies like exercise, journaling, or talking to someone you trust
• Set boundaries and know your limits
• Reach out for support—you don’t have to do it alone

There is no shame in asking for help. Healing is possible, and every step forward matters.

Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) proudly hosted its annual Legislative Breakfast this morning, bringing together community leaders, partners, and policymakers to highlight the impact of public behavioral health services.

The conversation centered on one clear message: sustainability matters. As the need for services continues to grow across our communities, so does the importance of maintaining strong, accessible, and coordinated systems of care.

Today’s event reinforced the power of partnership. By working together, we can continue to expand access, strengthen support systems, and ensure individuals and families receive the care they deserve.

Thank you to all who joined us and remain committed to advancing behavioral health in Oakland County.

Not just for awareness — but for understanding.
For acceptance.
For every voice that deserves to be seen, heard, and valued.

This weekend, our hearts are heavy.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office shared that there were two calls related to su***de. Behind every call is a person, a family, and a story that matters.

At Oakland Community Health Network, we want you to know this:

You are not alone. You are not forgotten. And your life matters.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out:

📞 OCHN Crisis Line (24/7): 888-238-0611
📱 Call or Text: 988 (Su***de & Crisis Lifeline)
📞 Non-Emergency Behavioral Health Access: 248-464-6363 (Mon–Fri, 8am–8pm)

Reaching out is not weakness. It’s courage.

Mental Health Tips to Get Through Tough Moments:
• Take 3–5 slow, deep breaths to calm your body
• Step outside or change your environment, even briefly
• Text or call someone you trust — connection matters
• Write down what you’re feeling instead of holding it in
• Remind yourself: this feeling is temporary
• Limit isolation — even sitting near others can help

If today feels heavy, take it one moment at a time.

We stand with those who are hurting. We see you. We care. And help is here.
