We wanted to take a second to congratulate one of our clinicians on an amazing accomplishment. Just this past Wednesday, Andrea Rawat successfully defended her dissertation, which is the culmination of years of hard work and the final step to earning her doctorate. We are incredibly proud of her!

Congratulations, Dr. Rawat!!!!

We are excited to announce that a new clinician has joined our practice. Please welcome, Jean Perry, LMSW.

Jean earned her MSW from Wayne State University in 2005 with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has worked with children and their families in school settings for more than 15 years. In her private practice, she provides a strengths-based solution focused approach aimed at meeting each person where they are at, while also working to build emotional intelligence and empowering the individual to move toward positive outcomes.

Though her work is largely with children, Jean works with individuals of all ages who may be dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, grief and loss, parenting concerns and relationship difficulties. Her extensive experience in the school setting offers assistance for families navigating the special education process with their children and managing the complex emotions in parenting children with special needs.

She is currently accepting new patients and is providing therapy through our HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Appointments can be made by calling our office at 249-509-7657.

It is the start of a new month, which means it is time to announce the next non-profit for our donation matching program!

For July, we have chosen For the Frontlines, which offers free crisis counseling to essential workers who are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the COVID crisis has created fear and anxiety for everyone, the added stress of being an essential employee can make that fear and anxiety even greater. The goal of For the Frontlines is to ensure that essential workers have somewhere to turn to when they feel overwhelmed by everything going on. Counseling is available 24/7 and can be engaged by texting FRONTLINE to 741741 (US and Canada).

To have your donation matched, please email or Facebook Messenger your receipt to us. We will continue matching until Nexus has donated $500. We hope you will join us in supporting For the Frontlines and all of our essential workers.

Healthcare and essential workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic deserve free, 24/7 crisis counseling at their fingertips.

To our patients, friends, families, and colleagues,

When I started Nexus Behavioral Health, my goal was to create a space for clinicians that was integrative and supportive, while also working to offer our patients a place where they could feel safe and connected. While I feel we have done that within the walls of our clinic, I also feel strongly that the mission for NBH must expand into our community through advocacy, allyship, and philanthropy. While building a sustainable program that will allow us to make change in the community may take some time, I recognize that there are small acts we can do now.

Starting this month, Nexus Behavioral Health will begin a monthly donation program that highlights a local non-profit organization. For the month of June, we will be matching donations made to the Ruth Ellis Center. Simply Facebook Messenger or e-mail us a picture of your donation receipt, and we will match it until our office has donated $500.

From the REC website: “Founded in 1999, Ruth Ellis Center (REC) has established a national reputation for quality and innovation in providing trauma-informed services for le***an, gay, bi-attractional, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth, and young adults, with an emphasis on young people of color, experiencing homelessness, involved in the child welfare system, and/or experiencing barriers to health and wellbeing. It is our mission, to create opportunities with LGBTQ+ young people to build their vision for a positive future. Our vision is a world where LGBTQ+ young people are safe and supported no matter where they go.”

Beyond monetary donations, the Ruth Ellis Center has many other ways to engage and offer support through in-kind donations and volunteer projects. Please visit www.ruthelliscenter.org to learn more about their mission and services, as well as to learn how you can support the amazing work being done.

Warmest regards,
Matthew Kadrich, Psy.D. LP CBIS
Director, Nexus Behavioral Health

Each week we are going to highlight one of our clinicians in hopes that someone who needs support will find it. This week we are proud to highlight Angela Kudzia, who has been with Nexus since we opened.

Angela has been focused on serving the community throughout her career. She has volunteered teaching self-defense to women survivors of human trafficking, organized fundraisers to feed the homeless, participated in charity events for the special needs community, and is a regular participant in events to raise awareness and donations for ALS.

Angela earned her degree in clinical psychology with a specialization in addiction studies from the University of Detroit Mercy. She employs dynamic and mindfulness-based approaches that are proven effective for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, pain management, addiction, and trauma treatment. Her extensive clinical training coupled with her philanthropic nature has put her in the perfect position to help you navigate the uncharted territory associated with all of life's stressors.

Angela is skilled in using telehealth to safely engage in the therapeutic process and is welcoming new patients. Most insurance companies are covering teletherapy visits, and several have waived copays and deductibles for therapy through the end of June. To make an appointment, please contact our office at 248-509-7657.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Brittany Linton on becoming a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist! She worked very hard to obtain this designation, and we are proud to have her as part of our team!

Dr. Linton’s areas of clinical focus include women’s issues and concerns related to pregnancy, infertility, perinatal mood disorders, motherhood, and parenting. Being a parent, whether new or seasoned, can be incredibly tough and isolating, which could be made worse by the current health climate. Dr. Linton has decided to expand her hours in an effort to offer support to new mothers who feel disconnected in a time when they need connection most. Appointments can be made by calling 248-509-7657.
