IT'S OFFICIAL:
Historic Van Rensselaer Manor Improvement Project Has Begun!
Work to transform and improve Rensselaer County’s renowned Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing facility is now underway, with the project officially started on Wednesday (Feb. 18th) by County Executive Steve McLaughlin and members of the VRM team.
“Our Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing facility has provided compassionate care for seniors for several decades and has rightly earned a reputation for excellence in the region. This project will ensure the Manor remains at the top of the list for senior care facilities and is able to provide a high level of care for the next generation and beyond,” said McLaughlin.
The project will create more resources at the VRM for physical therapy and physical rehabilitation. Along with improving individual rooms and communal areas, rehab resources will also be updated and expanded. The project has also been designed to ensure minimal disruptions for our residents, who will NOT be required to relocate from the VRM during the work ahead.
The $112 million project will take two years to complete but already has earned praise from state officials reviewing the application for the project. The state is providing 82 percent of the funding for the project, or approximately $74 million.
“As County Executive, we have undertaken many projects but none more important than this project to improve our Van Rensselaer Manor,” McLaughlin said.
