⚡ Qi is the vital energy that flows through our bodies, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The Early Daoist alchemists and philosophers thought of qi (pronounced as chee) as a vital force within the body that regulates body fluids, energy and the overall flow of the body. They sought out and developed techniques to alter and control the qi movement so that one’s flow was in balance.

In English, qi is usually translated as “vital life force,” but qi goes beyond that simple translation.

According to TCM, qi is the force that makes up and binds together all things in the universe. It is paradoxically, both everything and nothing.

⏰ The frequency of acupuncture sessions varies based on individual needs.

Acupuncturists typically use a three step system to help you get the most out of your treatments. These three steps include Relief Care, Corrective Care, and Maintenance Care.

Relief Care - visits are multiple times per week to promote healing and recovery.
Corrective Care - visits are less frequent as you begin to feel better.

Did you know that cupping is an ancient technique that’s used to a variety of health problems?

🥢 Cupping is a therapy where cups are placed on the skin to create suction, these cups can be made out of glass, earthenware, silicone, and bamboo.

There are different types of cupping (wet and dry) and involve putting a flammable substance such as paper, alcohol or herbs in the cup and setting it on fire. As the fire extinguishers, the acupuncturist places it upside down on your skin and that’s when the suction occurs.

People seek treatment through cupping for many reasons including blood flow, relieving muscle tension/inflammation, relaxation, and enhance overall well-being.

Winter, in most places, is a time of colder, shorter days. So naturally, when there is less reason to be outdoors, the body tends to want to stay inside where it is warmer. The body’s metabolic rate will be slower, which means eating foods full of sugars can become detrimental over time. When the metabolic rate slows, the body naturally holds onto fat and we gain weight.

Our bodies' yang energy is hibernating. The qi and blood tend to move inwards, the skin pores are denser, and the water we drink does not easily change to sweat and leak from the body surface.

Nourishing your body with warm, cooked meals like soups and stews is key! Your body will thank you.

As winter settles in and the days grow shorter, many of us feel the weight of the season—whether it’s the onset of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), post-holiday fatigue, or simply the exhaustion from navigating life’s demands.

The shorter days and lack of sunlight in winter can disrupt our natural sleep-wake cycles, leading to insomnia or poor sleep quality. Acupuncture helps regulate the body's circadian rhythms, calming the nervous system, and enhancing the Yin energy, which is often deficient in the winter months.
