Following our systematic tuning process helps to optimize the kinematic result. Our goal being to provide the least resistive orthotic as possible while still maintaining control. The initial video the joint has only been aligned and no dynamic movement of the hinge has been introduced. Her gait is stiff and uneven with the contra lateral limb. The second video too much PF ROM is allowed and control of the knee’s hyper extension is lost. The third video too much DF is allowed and the knee falls in to flexion in late stance. The fourth video is the optimized position, even gait and stability. It’s important as we adjust to see where too much motion isn’t a good result as it confirms the result of what does work. This is why the Method TA AFO has such a clinical utility for patients who are going through Rehab and as strength changes the joint can also be further adjusted.
