DR. PARKER IS A PUBLISHED AUTHOR! Flowing Brook is so excited and proud to announce that our founder and CEO, Dr. Shabrell Parker, has completed her debut work, and it is available for pre-order NOW! We're back with , a series of reasons why talk therapy works. Your therapist is someone who is separate from you, your family, your co-workers or boss, or any other person or situation that is contributing either positively or negatively to your mental health. Because of this, they are able to see situations and behaviors from a different lens, allowing them to point out behaviors and recognize patterns that you wouldn't have noticed on your own. Even if a family member or friend would have noticed these things, the difference is this: they don't have the professional knowledge and experience that a therapist does to help you identify AND resolve your own behaviors or teach you how to handle someone else's. A therapist doesn't just sit and listen and occasionally respond--they listen AND teach essential skills to help you become the best person you can be.
