It’s that time of year 🎄 Christmas decorations are up at Dayspring Vision Counseling ✨

In a world where people are expected to show up as their best and nothing less, I love that the therapeutic process creates a safe space for people to come exactly as they are. Happy, sad, angry, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Therapy provides a setting for clients to lay out their concerns and pain. Share their dreams and goals. Tears and laughter. This process is really special. I feel honored by the stories that have been shared and the incredible individuals I have worked with. That is one of the best parts of working in this field. Massive paperwork and all. Hours of progress notes and all. Being able to support my clients as they navigate their lives...it makes it all worth it. Happy Mental Health Awareness Month✨

Several years ago, I ran into my 8th grade middle school teacher at a coffee shop. After going up to say “hi”, my teacher asked, “Lia, what are you doing now?”. After giving him a quick update, he quickly replied, “No, you need to be doing private practice”. He encouraged me to try it out, and see how I like it. He connected me with a colleague who leased me office space, and I started a new role as a private practitioner. I never dreamed that I would go from seeing a handful of clients for less than half a day, to running my own trademarked and registered private practice... in my own office, with a full caseload and waiting list. I thank God for all of this, and for answering my prayers...even when I felt tired and discouraged. I started working when I was 14 years old, and I NEVER could have imagined the amount of time and effort that running my own business would require of me. It was not easy, but it was all worth it. Every day as I put my key into the lock; enter my office; and get started for my day; I know it was worth it. I am living my dream. Happy Women’s Entrepreneurship Day!
