NAAMA and JAPA Formalize Institutional Partnership to Advance Global Health and Medical Collaboration

The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) and the Jordanian American Physician Association (JAPA) have signed an Institutional Partnership Agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing public health, medical education, advocacy, and international cooperation.

The agreement was formally executed by Dr. Raed Al-Naser, President of NAAMA, and Dr. Maen Hussein, President of JAPA, during a leadership gathering held alongside the Council of Presidents Inaugural Meeting in Washington, DC. This milestone partnership establishes a structured framework for sustained collaboration between the two organizations in the United States and abroad.

Under the agreement, NAAMA and JAPA will jointly:

Develop educational and professional initiatives
Expand pathways for international medical graduates from Arab universities to access training opportunities in the U.S.
Collaborate on efforts to strengthen healthcare systems and promote the highest standards of clinical excellence

By aligning their missions, expertise, and resources, both organizations aim to create meaningful opportunities for their members, support underserved communities, and advance impactful medical, educational, and humanitarian initiatives globally.

NAAMA Leads Collaborative Humanitarian Effort in Partnership with Global Health Relief Initiative

The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) proudly played a leading role in the inaugural Council of Presidents and Humanitarian Coalition Meeting, held on December 13 in Washington, DC. In partnership with the Global Health Relief Initiative (GHRI), NAAMA convened presidents and senior leaders from organizations across humanitarian, health, educational, and community-focused fields to foster long-term collaboration.

This landmark gathering marked a critical step toward creating a sustained platform for coordinated action. Together, NAAMA and GHRI guided discussions to:

Identify areas of shared mission and mutual interest
Open dialogue on strategic coordination among organizations
Explore opportunities for joint influence and collective impact
Establish a framework for ongoing communication, engagement, and follow-up

NAAMA’s leadership ensured the meeting emphasized relationship-building, alignment, and shared understanding, laying the foundation for future working groups, collaborative initiatives, and actionable strategies in 2026.

The Council of Presidents is envisioned as a standing, evolving forum through which organizations can work together to advance shared humanitarian, health, educational, and community-focused goals. NAAMA and SAPA Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Shared Mission in Healthcare and Community Service

The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) and the Sudanese American Physician Association (SAPA) are proud to announce the signing of an Institutional Partnership Agreement, marking a significant milestone in both organizations’ commitment to elevating public health, medical education, advocacy, and international collaboration.

The agreement was officially signed by Dr. Nidal Moukaddam, President-Elect of NAAMA, and Dr. Yasir Elamin, President of SAPA, during SAPA’s 7th Annual General Assembly in Houston, Texas. This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen the professional, educational, and humanitarian efforts of both associations in the United States and globally.

Our Story

In September 29 1974, a group of Arab American Physicians established the Arab American Medical Association ( AAMA). In 1975 Sal Ajalat Esq was commissioned to write the first bylaws of AAMA. In 1978 AAMA started its first humanitarian efforts by sending medical supplies to Lebanon during the war. Same year noticed the first medical symposium in Baghdad. While in 1979 the first national medical convention was held in Las Vegas. In November 1980 four chapters of AAMA signed the affiliation to establish the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA). Kamal Batniji, MD. was elected to be the first president of NAAMA, and in the same year, NAAMA was accredited to be a continuing medical provider (CMP) by the ACCME. In 1989 NAAMA office moved to Michigan. NAAMA foundation was established in 1990. During the first gulf war in 1991, NAAMA was the only medical organization that was permitted to send aids to Iraq. NAAMA and Physician for peace established missions for Palestine in 1993. In 2000 the first International Medical Convention of NAAMA was held in Jerusalem. NAAMA was one of the first to supply medical aids during the 9/11 attack. The hard work was honored with the Arab American Organization of the year in 2001, by ACCESS. In 2004 NAAMA joined the International Medical graduates section at the American Medical Association. One of the greatest achievements was in 2006 when NAAMA raised more than quarter million dollars for Lebanon. Another success was in the Egypt Pediatric Cancer Project. NAAMA shared in the 50th year anniversary of University of Aleppo. In 2010 NAAMA, SAMS, and IMSA signed an affiliation agreement. Between 2012-2016 NAAMA initiated and continued to be the first of many medical missions for Syrian refugees in Jordan. Dr. Rouba Ali, the current president of NAAMA is proud to introduce to you NAAMA NextGen. Dr. Ali realized the importance of paving the way for NAAMA into the future. NAAMA Next Generation started to establish their own chapters and clubs in their universities. We are committed to the success of this organization and will stand ready to assist any one in need for our assistance and help.
