It's World Adoption Day today. We are observing National Adoption Month this November. And in doing so, we want to hold space for everyone who has been impacted by adoption. For some, adoption means joy, family, love. For others, adoption means loss, hurt, pain, grief. For most people, though, adoption means a combination of all of those things. We're holding space for all of those feelings today, and every day this month.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. Multiple studies find adoptees are 4x more likely to attempt su***de than non adoptees. We cannot afford for therapists to not be adoption informed. Adoptees deserve therapists that Specialize in adoption.

Therapists, please sign up for my free monthly list of resources for Adoption Therapy {link in bio} and consider more trainings, more conferences, and more consultation.

Adoptive parents, please don’t let “close to home” convenience or insurance coverage choose a therapist when your family needs a specialist.

YAAASSSS!!!! CT Senate Democrats & Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus just APPROVED House Bill 6105: the adoptee birth certificate bill by a vote of 27-8. The bill— which restores rights to ALL Connecticut-born adopted persons regarding access to their original birth certificates— is officially on its way to Office of Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Office of Governor Ned Lamont. If it is signed, it will become law on July 1 of THIS year. Stay tuned. We will have one final ask of you all. But for this moment, celebrate. You have been heard and the Connecticut General Assembly agrees: everyone should be treated equally under one fair and consistent law.

I'm very excited to announce our new support group launches on Zoom next week! Please feel free to spread the word and pass along to any clients, friends, and colleagues.

Email GTGenderGroup@gmail.com and the auto-responder includes all of the group information and the zoom link. This will also give us a sense of how many people will attend.

We plan to run the group in person later this year. Feel free to ask any questions.
