Becoming a designated trail gateway community would be a great economic boost for T or C and the region.

Trail lovers! We're so excited to help promote a public meeting of the Rio Grande Trail Commission here in TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES! 🏃‍♀️👩‍🦽🏃‍♂️

Friday April 11th 9AM at the Civic Center.

We're told there will be snacks. 😎

The purpose of the Rio Grande Trail Commission (RGTC) meeting is to help establish the Rio Grande Trail (RGT) to run the length of the state from Colorado to Texas. The commission seeks to use this time to help establish new segments of trail, choose communities along the corridor for potential gateway community designation, address hurdles and shortcomings of past iterations of the RGTC, and actively engage the public in the planning process of the RGT.

Nearly 200 Locals Join National Protest at Triangle Park

Despite cold winds and gray skies, close to 200 people came together Saturday at Triangle Park in downtown Truth or Consequences to take part in a nationwide protest. The event was one of more than 1,300 protests held across all 50 states.

Lively rock and roll music played throughout the gathering, giving the crowd energy as people waved signs with messages like “Hands off Science,” “Hands off Veterans' Benefits,” “Hands off Medicaid,” and “Tariffs Are a Tax on Us.” One man said it was his first protest since the Vietnam War.

The protest was aimed at recent actions taken by President Donald Trump and his designated efficiency expert, Elon Musk. Many are worried about cuts to important programs, rising costs caused by new tariffs, and the U.S. turning away from its longtime allies.

One of the organizers, Dimid Hayes said, “People from all walks of life came out today. This isn’t about politics—it’s about protecting what matters to our families and our community.”
