✨ Meet Wendy! ✨

We are so excited to officially welcome Wendy to the front desk at Southern Ocean Animal Hospital — and trust us, this one is special.

Wendy has always felt a natural connection to animals and knew that working around them wasn’t just a job, it was something she was meant to do. She loves being part of helping pets live their healthiest lives. She brings 20 years of experience in a medical office setting — including 10 years as a receptionist and 10 years as an office manager — so she understands exactly what it takes to keep a busy practice running smoothly and professionally. ❤️🐾

Her life outside of SOAH is just as full of animals as ours. At home, Wendy has four dogs — Parker, Millie, Quinn, and Buzz (three GSPs and a Lab!), plus two cats and nine chickens, and some bunnies. She and her family are actively involved in dog sports including conformation, Fast CAT, and rally, and in the summer you’ll likely find them out on the boat enjoying the shore life we all love.

And here’s a fun bonus: Wendy is also a local photographer for both people and pets — so yes, we are already excited about the creative energy she’s bringing with her! 📸

One of the things Wendy loves most about animals is the reminder they give us to live in the present. No grudges. No worrying about what’s next. Just right now.

If you see Wendy at the front desk, please help us give her the warmest SOAH welcome. We are truly thrilled to have her as part of our team. 💛🐾

Our Receptionist position has been filled — thank you to everyone who applied and shared our last post.

We are actively hiring experienced Veterinary Assistants and Kennel Assistants for part-time and full-time positions within our growing organization. Some team members may work at one or more of our locations, depending on experience, availability, and role fit.

Experience is required.
These positions are hands-on and fast-paced and require comfort working directly with animals, clients, and a team that holds high standards of care.

✨ Senior Pet Care Spotlight ✨

Here’s Jess, a veterinary technician with 30 years of experience, performing laser therapy on sweet senior Italian Greyhound Zeta 🐾💕

Laser therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps:

We were especially delighted to see how comfortable Zeta was with Jess today 🥹💚 This was her 5th laser treatment, and she’s truly settled right into it—relaxed, trusting, and clearly bonded with Jess. Many pets find these sessions soothing (some even nap!), and Zeta showed us just how calm and content this therapy can be.

Our goal for senior pets isn’t just more time—it’s better quality of life 🐶💕

When duty calls, it doesn’t check the clock.

It’s 3:30 on a Saturday.
The hospital closed 3½ hours ago.
The lights should be off, the doors locked, the week behind us.

But instead, we’re in emergency surgery — because pets don’t read business hours and emergencies don’t wait for Monday.

So our kids are here. Perched on the waiting room bench, making faces at the window, turning a long afternoon into an adventure. They’re being cared for by their Uncle Drew — a.k.a. Andrew — who you know from reception, but who also happens to be family in every way that matters.

This is what a family practice really looks like.
Not just owned by a family — but run with one.
Staff who step up. Kids who grow up here. A team that shows up when it matters, even when the day was supposed to be done.

Medicine, heart, and family — all under one roof.
That’s who we are. Happy weekend, friends. ❤️
