Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful potluck, karaoke, and some fun crafts. Thank you to everyone who helped make the potluck possible. We are truly grateful for this community.

Our December newsletter and calendars will be sent out this weekend, and we are excited for all that is planned next month. We will be visiting the Tucson Museum of Art and the Desert Museum. We will also be welcoming Pawsitive Friendships for our monthly animal therapy session.

A special acknowledgment goes out to the MSCS staff who work every day to create a supportive environment for our members and contribute to the meaningful experiences they have at the program. We are grateful for the team we have!

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

Joseph, a 20-year-old adult with autism who has been missing since November 11th around 10 PM.
Joseph left his home without his phone and has not returned. He is 5'4" tall, verbal, and may be wearing or carrying a blue lanyard.
If you see Joseph or have any information about his whereabouts, please contact local authorities immediately.

Sharing this with permission from his parents, he’s a former MSCS member and any extra support would be appreciated by his parents.

Hi everyone,

We wanted to share a quick update regarding transportation for tomorrow. We were recently made aware that some SunVan rides have been cancelled due to their system incorrectly showing our site as closed for Veterans Day. Please note that we are open tomorrow as usual.

We recommend that you double-check your member’s SunVan ride to ensure it hasn’t been cancelled and make alternative transportation plans if needed. Our administration team has reached out to SunVan to correct this issue, but we have not yet received a response. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance or have questions.

Additionally, we wanted to provide an update about this Friday’s planned outing. We were originally planning to attend the Tucson Greek Festival, but we recently learned that it does not begin until 3 p.m. and there’s also a chance of rain. We’re currently exploring other fun options for Friday and will share the new plan soon.

Please note that we will be open on Tuesday, November 11th, and closed on November 27th and 28th. The Saturday group on November 29th will also be canceled.

October has flown by, and we’ve been keeping busy with visits to pumpkin stands, zoo trips, fun crafts, and plenty of time outdoors at local parks. We’re excited for the cooler weather ahead and even more park days!
Our Halloween party is this Friday, and we encourage everyone to dress up if they’d like! A big thank you to all the families and parents who have donated activities and food items for the party. We’re planning a fun filled Friday with a park visit, cupcake decorating, face painting, game stations, and more. Stay tuned for photos this Friday!

A glimpse of what we’ve been up to at MSCS this month! From enjoying Music in the Courtyard downtown, to having fun at the arcade, meeting Cowboy the desert tortoise, and creating fun Halloween crafts. It’s been a great month so far!

We had the pleasure of visiting Fire Station #9, one of Tucson’s busiest stations, and it was such a great experience! Even with how active they are, the crew was incredibly kind and welcoming. They took time out of their busy day to show us around, walk us through their routine, and answer all of our questions. We even got to see how quickly they can dress out when a call comes in, which was impressive to say the least. In just the hour we were there, they responded to four different calls! We’re so grateful for the chance to see a glimpse of what they do and for how sweet and accommodating everyone was. Thank you Fire Station #9!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Pawsitive Friendships to our space today. Our members were fully engaged and lit up with excitement throughout the visit. They showed such kindness and care toward Arlo, a portipoo, who loved all the attention. Arlo especially appreciated the scratches and pets, and it was a joy to host him and his owner, Anabel.

A special thank you to Adi from Pawsitive Friendships for collaborating with us to make this visit possible.

We’re looking forward to more visits from Pawsitive Friendships on October 10th, November 14th, and December 12th. Be sure to check out the newsletter for more photos and details.

From dinosaurs to galaxies, our members had a blast exploring the wonders of science today at the Flandrau Science Center! So many smiles, discoveries, and “wow” moments . It has been a fun-filled day of learning and adventure! 🚀🔭💫

We have been patiently waiting for the weather to cool down, but we’re still feeling grateful for this community and the moments we share. There are exciting things to look forward to, and we are extremely grateful that we get to experience all these fun activities and outings together.

Keeping the fun energy going here at MSCS as we get ready for Spirit Week, happening next week from July 28 to August 1!
Here’s what’s coming up:

Monday, July 28 – Pajama Day

Tuesday, July 29 – Opposite Day
Staff deadline members, members dress like staff

Wednesday, July 30 – Wacky Wednesday

Thursday, July 31 – Mystery Character Day
Dress as a character from a book, movie, show, game, or history but kept it secret and let others guess!

Friday, August 1 – Villains vs. Heroes Day
Pick a side and come as your favorite hero or villain from any universe.
We can’t wait to see everyone participate and get creative with their outfits.

Next week, we’re also heading out on some exciting trips to the Humane Society Thrift Store and the Gem and Mineral Museum.
We plan on making it a great week at MSCS!

We've had an incredible few weeks and hope everyone enjoys the long weekend ahead! Just a reminder that MSCS will be closed on July 4th and 5th in observance of the holiday.

Heads up, our Summer Party has been rescheduled to July 11th to accommodate members that are out of town for the holidays. Feel free to bring drinks or snacks to share, this is completely optional and not mandatory.
