🌿 An Important Update from Thrive Theory Lactation & Infant Feeding 🌿

Due to an unexpected out-of-state relocation for my family, Thrive Theory Lactation & Infant Feeding will be closing at the end of November.

While I am excited for this new adventure, leaving what I have built through Thrive Theory is bittersweet. I’m deeply grateful for every family I’ve had the privilege to support. It has been an honor to walk alongside you in your feeding journeys. Your strength and love for your babies has inspired me every day. I’d also like to express my gratitude to our wonderful community of local partners, which I will dearly miss.

If you’d like to be seen before the end of November, please schedule as soon as possible, as appointments are limited.

It was such a pleasure presenting at the Arizona WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Conference last week! Are you watching your baby's Hunger Cues?

Rooting, Hands to Mouth, Opening & Closing Mouth, & overall Increase Awareness are all early hunger cues that babies give us in order to know it is time to offer them breast or bottle. Some babies show more of a single type of cue, whereas, others might show all of them, so this is another opportunity to learn your baby's preferences.

If you find that feedings are an especially stressful time, question if you are waiting too late. If you wait till your baby is crying & fussy, it can make for a particular difficult feeding session.

Are you concerned that you’re not making enough milk for your newborn? Nature has our backs! Your nutrient-dense colostrum is the perfect first food for your newborn’s tiny tummy. It’s supercharged nutrition in a teeny package.

Because it’s so thick, hand expression with good technique is usually a more effective way to express colostrum than pumping. And guess what’s even more effective at transferring colostrum than hand expression? A breastfeeding baby! So no need to “pump to see how much colostrum baby is getting.” — it’s a trap!

Baby will need to eat frequently in the early days, and that’s totally normal! Cluster feeding can be intense, but on its own it does not mean you have low milk supply.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week! Today’s video is a long one, but it’s well overdue! It’s honestly not easy for me to talk about my own journey into motherhood, which was unfortunately quite traumatizing but also blessed me with the most amazing child I could have ever asked for. Even though our journey didn’t go as I had imagined, I kept breastfeeding and pumping through it all, and I’m so proud of myself for every drop of breastmilk that I worked so hard to be able to provide for her! In honor of this special week and the wonderful perinatal support community in Tucson that has made me feel so safe and accepted, I wanted to take a moment to share my story with you and to explain what inspired me to become a lactation consultant.

Antoinette will be offering home visits and telehealth appointments, and she is in-network with United Healthcare and Cigna. Antoinette Cornelius is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University. She spent over a decade working in engineering consulting, where she developed a strong foundation in customer support, education, and communication.

After becoming a mother of three and facing her own breastfeeding challenges, especially difficulty finding quality support, Antoinette was inspired to shift careers and pursue her passion for maternal and infant health . She has been serving families as a practicing CLC since 2024 and has been training with Katie Cohen, IBCLC, throughout this time. In addition, she has been a Breastfeeding USA Counselor since April 2025, providing peer-to-peer support to families navigating their feeding journeys.

Originally from Willcox, Arizona, Antoinette is honored to be back in her home state after years of supporting her husband’s military career. Drawing from her experience working in male-dominated industries as a working mother, Antoinette has a particular interest in supporting families through the transition back to work. Whether you plan to return to work or not, Antoinette is most committed to supporting you to meet your breastfeeding goals.
