Leg pain and tightness isn’t always coming from the back. 🔍
In many cases, it’s caused by the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve getting trapped in the hamstring, leading to deep aching, burning, pulling, or tightness down the back of the leg.

This is often misdiagnosed as sciatica because the symptoms feel almost identical 🧠
Both can cause pain down the back of the leg, but the key difference is that this nerve irritation happens locally in the hamstring, not at the spine or sciatic nerve root—so traditional sciatica treatments often miss it ⚡️

When the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve becomes stuck due to adhesions, scar tissue, or chronically tight hamstrings, it loses its ability to glide. That constant irritation keeps firing pain signals, especially with sitting, walking, or stretching 🧱

At Peak Action Physical Therapy, treatment focuses on freeing the nerve from the hamstring tissue, restoring proper movement, blood flow, and nerve signaling—so the leg can finally relax and calm down 🧠

If you’ve treated “sciatica” but nothing has worked, this could be the missing piece 🧩

🔥 Shin Splints That Won’t Go Away? It Might Be a Trapped Nerve.

Most people think shin splints = muscle or bone stress, but in many stubborn cases it’s actually a peroneal nerve entrapment causing leg pain, burning, tingling, or numbness down the shin and into the foot.

The peroneal nerve wraps around the outside of the knee and travels down the lower leg. When it gets compressed by tight fascia, adhesions, or overworked muscles, it can mimic classic shin splints — but rest, stretching, and ice won’t fix it.

At Peak Action Physical Therapy, we focus on freeing the nerve itself, not just chasing symptoms.

✅ Releasing adhesions that trap the nerve
✅ Restoring normal nerve glide and blood flow
✅ Reducing numbness, tingling, and sharp leg pain
✅ Helping runners and active people finally move pain-free again

If you’ve had “shin splints” that never fully heal, this could be the missing piece.

Foot & heel pain that just won’t go away? It’s not always plantar fasciitis. 👀

Many cases of stubborn heel and foot pain are caused by a tibial nerve entrapment—where the nerve gets compressed as it travels behind the ankle and into the foot.

When this nerve is trapped, it can create:
• Burning or sharp heel pain
• Tingling or numbness in the foot
• Pain that worsens with walking or standing
• Symptoms that don’t respond to stretching or orthotics

At Peak Action Physical Therapy, we focus on freeing the nerve, not just treating symptoms. By addressing adhesions and tension around the tibial nerve and surrounding tissues, we help restore proper nerve glide, blood flow, and normal foot function—so the pain actually resolves instead of coming back.

🚨 SCIATIC PAIN THAT STARTS IN THE GLUTE AND RUNS DOWN THE LEG? 🚨

If sitting, driving, or bending forward lights up your hamstring and sends pain, burning, or tingling down your leg — this is often NOT a disc issue.

The sciatic nerve commonly gets entrapped between the hamstring muscles and surrounding fascia, especially after old strains, tears, or years of overuse.

Here’s what’s actually happening 👇
The nerve should glide smoothly when you move.
Adhesions and dense tissue around the hamstrings can trap it, creating constant irritation and leg pain.

How we fix it 👇
• Release adhesions restricting the nerve
• Restore normal nerve glide
• Reduce tension in the hamstrings
• Calm the nervous system instead of aggravating it

When the nerve is no longer stuck, the leg pain, tightness, and pulling sensation can finally shut off.

Chronic low back pain that just won’t quit? This nerve is often overlooked 👇

A very common and missed cause of persistent low back pain is superior cluneal nerve entrapment. These small sensory nerves cross over the top of the pelvis and get trapped in adhesions where they pass through tight fascia.

When the superior cluneal nerves are restricted, they can create sharp, burning, or constant aching pain right over the low back and upper glute—often mistaken for disc or SI joint issues.

By removing the adhesions compressing these nerves, we restore normal nerve glide and shut off the pain signal at its source—without injections, medications, or endless guessing.

Fixing leg numbness & burning pain by freeing the LATERAL FEMORAL CUTANEOUS NERVE (LFCN) 🔥🦵

If you have burning, tingling, numbness, or sharp pain on the outer front of your thigh, this isn’t a muscle issue — it’s often an LFCN entrapment

The LFCN is a sensory nerve that passes near the ASIS and inguinal region and runs down the anterior lateral thigh.

When it gets glued down by adhesions or compressed, the nerve can’t slide normally — leading to constant irritation and altered sensation down the lateral thigh.

🚫 Stretching doesn’t fix it
🚫 Strengthening doesn’t free a stuck nerve
✅ You have to remove the adhesion restricting the nerve

At Peak Action Physical Therapy in Tucson, Arizona, we target the exact entrapment site, restore nerve mobility, and take pressure off the nerve so symptoms can calm down at the source.

Stop chasing symptoms. Fix the cause.

Sciatica that won’t go away? The problem might NOT be your low back. 👀

Most people are told sciatica = disc issues or spinal compression…
But for many, the sciatic nerve is actually entrapped at the hamstrings.

Here’s what happens ⬇️
The sciatic nerve runs directly under (and sometimes through) the hamstring muscles.
When adhesions form, the nerve gets glued down instead of sliding smoothly.

That irritation can cause:
• Butt pain
• Pain down the back of the leg
• Tight hamstrings that never loosen
• Burning, tingling, or pulling sensations

Stretching won’t fix it ❌
Strengthening alone won’t fix it ❌
Because the issue isn’t weakness — it’s restricted nerve mobility.

At Peak Action Physical Therapy, we focus on removing the adhesions trapping the nerve, restoring normal glide, and taking pressure off the nervous system so symptoms can finally calm down.

Low back + hip pain that just won’t go away?
It might not be your spine or hip joint at all 👀

The femoral nerve runs directly alongside the psoas muscle — and when adhesion forms, the nerve gets glued down, irritated, and compressed ⚡️

That can cause:
• Deep hip pain
• Front-of-thigh pain or tightness
• Low back pain that doesn’t respond to stretching
• Pain with standing, walking, or lifting

Here we’re removing the adhesion at the psoas so the femoral nerve can slide freely again, taking pressure off the nerve and restoring normal movement 🔓

Femoral nerve entrapped to the psoas = years of unresolved low back pain 🔒🧠

When the femoral nerve gets glued to the psoas, every hip movement tugs on the nerve → increased tension into the lumbar spine → chronic low back pain that stretching, strengthening, and injections never fix.

Free the nerve. Restore normal glide. Take stress off the low back.

Low back pain that won’t go away no matter how much you stretch or strengthen? ⚡️

It may be coming from a cluneal nerve entrapment — small sensory nerves near the low back and pelvis that, when stuck, can cause sharp, burning, or aching pain right over the spine and into the upper glutes.

If the nerve can’t glide, the pain sticks around.
Releasing the adhesion restores normal motion and takes pressure off the nerve.

Chronic hip or low back pain that just won’t go away? 🚨
It may not be a muscle problem at all.

When the femoral nerve gets stuck to the psoas by adhesion, it can cause years of:
• Hip pain
• Low back pain
• Tightness or weakness in the front of the hip
• Pain that doesn’t respond to stretching or strengthening

No amount of foam rolling or exercises will fix a nerve that’s glued down.

By releasing the femoral nerve from adhesion, we restore proper glide, reduce tension through the hip and spine, and help the body finally move pain-free again.
