JFCS is thrilled to share the screening of a film that will support our community partner KAVOD SHEF. 20% of the box office proceeds will directly fund KAVOD’s Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund, in partnership with Seed the Dream Foundation, to provide critical assistance and dignified care to survivors in need.

About the film:
From silence to testimony. From one generation to the next. Inspired by the true story of Holocaust survivor Herbert Heller, THE OPTIMIST follows an unexpected intergenerational friendship that transforms silence into courage.

JFCS of Southern Arizona looks forward to a year of purposeful, productive services. Our goal this year is to serve over 2,000 individuals. Our services include emergency financial assistance, financial wellness, care management, mental health services, services for seniors, and more. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, we served 856 individuals! In celebration of 85 years of service, JFCS' additional goal for 2026 is to raise $850,000 in individual donations to enable us to respond to changes in the community and the increased need for behavioral and community services. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, our generous donors have helped us raise $100,000! Please help us meet our goals and further our mission of healing the world through loving kindness by sharing about our services and following us on social media.

Our Story

At JFCS, we believe in healing the world with loving-kindness. Our trauma-informed therapy and social services provide effective strategies for coping and emotional healing to children, families and adults

We do not turn away anyone who comes seeking services whether its therapy for anxiety or depression, trauma-informed care for abused children, case management for older adults or medical equipment for mobility-challenged individuals. For over 76 years, JFCS has helped thousands of community members from all faiths, age and gender groups, ethnic and racial backgrounds—regardless of their ability to pay.

Guided by Jewish values of healing the world with loving-kindness through just and charitable deeds, we aspire to have a community in which all families and individuals are respected and valued, and empowered to overcome challenges and contribute to society.
