ZelosDx would like to welcome Phil Lefebvre to its Business Advisory Board. It is a pleasure to have him join our newly formed business advisory board!

Phil is a Senior Medical Products Business Development Leader with over 30 years of experience in strategic innovation and collaborative product development from startups to large corporations. Phil had extensive exposure to neuroscience clinical research at Northwestern University Medical School, neuroscience-related product development research at Nanosphere, and neuroscience business development activities at Abbott Laboratories. He has developed a broad, prominent network of leaders within neuroscience-related commercial, academic and government organizations.

This week they received their PROFESSIONAL SCIENCE MASTER’S (PSM) degree from the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program at the UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA (UA). Congratulations to them both as they move on to their new careers. Each of them worked on important business and scientific projects within our company. We are deeply grateful for their contributions. And ZelosDx appreciates being an industrial partner with the PSM applied bioscience program at the UA.

This week ZelosDx is launching a collaboration with University of
Arizona Dr. Ying-hui Chou, assistant professor of psychology
and cognitive science and member of BIO5. Dr. Chou, an
assistant professor in the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute,
is an expert in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a
non-invasive brain stimulation technology. Her research has
focused on investigating the utility of TMS in preventing
memory loss and enhancing brain function in patients with
mild cognitive impairment (MCI) – a measurable decline in
memory and thinking skills that may be a precursor to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. “By coupling the motor changes we see from TMS with the biomarker technology from ZelosDx, we will get a more precise, holistic view of how the brain changes along the spectrum from healthy to Alzheimer’s disease,” said Mark Sundman, cognition and neural systems graduate student in Dr. Chou’s Brain Imaging and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Laboratory. “This exciting new approach for analyzing blood may reveal brain changes that would otherwise be undetectable by conventional approaches.” Blood samples from this study will be analyzed at ZelosDx using our WINDOW INTO THE BRAIN technology. The results from these studies help validate our prototypes.

Arizona State University presents a poster highlighting ZelosDx Data
Last week on October 6, 2021, our ZelosDx data was highlighted in a poster presentation given by our Arizona State University collaborator at the 2021 GRAND CHALLENGES IN PARKINSON'S DISEASE Conference. Vladislav Voziyanov, PhD, Graduate Research Assistant at Arizona State University (ASU), presented the poster titled. “Blood Draws to Assess Biomarkers of Inflammation in Peripheral Blood Monocytes in Response to Chronic Implants for Deep Brain Stimulation.” This data in this poster shows that the novel, ZelosDx blood-based assay can detect trace amounts of Glial Fibrillary Acidic in rodent peripheral blood monocytes offering a non-invasive method of measuring inflammation. This work is a part of a collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Jitendran Muthuswamy at the ASU School of Biological and Health System's Engineering. https://sols.asu.edu/jitendran-muthuswamy
