One pill. One mistake. One life lost.
Issaiah was 15 years old - a sophomore in high school, a football player, a big brother. He took what he thought was Percocet. It was fentanyl.
When someone is overdosing, every second counts. Issaiah's story is a reminder of why calling 911 immediately can make the difference between life and death.
This is what we need you to know:
Fentanyl is showing up in fake pills everywhere. You can't tell by looking at it. One pill can kill.
If someone overdoses:
Call 911 immediately. Every second matters. Arizona's Good Samaritan law protects you from getting in trouble when you call for help - even if you've been using substances too.
Signs of opioid overdose:
-Slow or stopped breathing
-Unconscious or won't wake up
-Blue lips or fingernails
-Limp body
Don't wait. Don't be scared to call. Administer Narcan if available. Stay with them until help arrives.
Talk to the young people in your life. Know the signs. Know what to do. One conversation could save a life.
LPKNC offers Narcan training and prevention education. We're here to help keep our community safe.
