🍷 Red wine consumption has been controversial for far too long.

For years, we’ve heard about the potential health benefits of red wine, especially its antioxidants and heart-health claims. But recently, the conversation has shifted. Many argue that because it’s alcohol, it’s toxic and offers no real health benefits.

Dr. Nathan Goodyear and I recently had the privilege of meeting with the organic wine makers of Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe 🍇 – a region known for its unique approach to winemaking. We dug deep into the science, uncovering what the research really says about moderate organic red wine consumption, as well its potential benefits for cancer.

Stay tuned for the podcasts where we unveil the science, facts, and health benefits of this polyphenol containing beverage.

Cheers to learning, sipping responsibly, and supporting sustainable, organic wine practices! 🍷

When I go over genetic reports with patients, I often get two reactions: empowerment or defeat.

Some feel trapped by their genes, believing their health is predetermined.

But the truth is… Your genes are NOT your destiny—your daily choices are.

Genetics gives us a blueprint, but epigenetics determines how that blueprint is expressed.

Nutrition, lifestyle, mindset, and environment all play a role in shaping your health outcomes.

Knowledge is power—if you use it.

The Carnivore Diet is NOT for everyone!

I have so many patients ask about the carnivore diet, and many of them with labs pointing to a metabolic mess— high insulin, elevated lipids and liver function tests when on this diet! The popular channels and influencers make it sound like carnivore is the ultimate hack, but fail to mention how your genes could impact you here!

A high-saturated fat, zero-to low fiber diet can spike insulin, overactivate mTOR, and drive inflammation—especially if you have key genetic SNPs like APOE4, APOA2, ACSL1, and PPARG.

⚠️ If you’re genetically prone, carnivore can send you down a metabolically inflexible path.

Before going all-in on meat, test your genes, track your markers, and don’t just start a trendy diet without knowing how your genetic predispositions and SNPs could be affecting you!

Drop a 🧬 if you want to learn how to test for your genetic SNPs and metabolic health.

It’s no longer a matter of if you have a toxic burden, it’s how bad it is and how it’s acting with your terrain.” - Dr. Walter Crinnion

Unfortunately , since the 1990s, food dye has been making its colorful mark on our plates—and it’s just the tip of the toxic iceberg.

We’ve been bombarded with chemicals and toxins in our food, our water, and the air we breathe. The introduction of synthetic dyes, preservatives, pesticides, and plastics has only risen… like 87,000 plus (but who’s counting) 🧐

Anyway… here’s the truth…
…we ALL have a toxic burden.

Every single one of us is exposed to environmental toxins in one form or another.

The real question isn’t if we’re exposed, it’s really about how it’s affecting our bodies, our immune system and ultimately —our terrain.

Toxins are insidious—they build up over time and affect everything from our hormone balance to our immune system and even our mental clarity.

It’s not just about testing for these toxins (though that’s important!)—it’s about educating ourselves on the environment around us.

What’s in our food? What’s in our beauty products? What’s in the air we breathe? The more we know, the better equipped we are to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

When we understand the toxic burden we’re dealing with, we can take action—reduce exposure, detoxify, and shift towards healthier, more natural choices.

🧬 What the MTHFR?! 🤔

Ever heard of the MTHFR gene? If not, you’re not alone! But understanding this gene could hold the key to improving your health and reducing your risk for serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, and even fertility issues. 😮

✔️ What MTHFR is and why it’s essential for folate and homocysteine metabolism
✔️ The difference between heterozygous and homozygous mutations (and why it matters!)
✔️ How MTHFR affects DNA repair, cardiovascular health, and more
✔️ How to test for MTHFR mutations with homocysteine and DNA analysis

Why does it matter? Because MTHFR mutations could affect your methylation cycle, impacting everything from hormones to detoxification.

Change Your Perception, Change Your Body

This is the beauty of healing—when we shift our mindset, we don’t just change how we think…we change how we feel and function on a cellular level—we change our chemistry.

Our thoughts and beliefs are more than just mental, they are biological!!! Our perceptions can influence our epigenetics and the expression of our genes. 🧬 🤯

If we can be vulnerable enough to let go of limiting beliefs and strive to embrace positive energies and thoughts/perceptions, we invite transformation within, rewiring our biology for health and healing, joy, and vitality.

It’s a beautiful process really…the power to heal starts with your MIND.

Have you ever thought about your home being “sick” or being a contributor to your health??

Well if you haven’t, one of the first places to start improving your health and outcomes, surprisingly starts right at home.

Toxins from things like synthetic fragrances, new furniture, plastic storage, and harsh cleaning products can harm your mitochondria—the powerhouse of your cells. Over time, this can lead to fatigue, headaches, and even chronic illness.

What can you do today?

Switch to non-toxic cleaning products 🧼
Ditch plastic containers for glass or steel 🍶
Ventilate your home after renovations 🏡
Use natural scents like essential oils 🌿

Take control of your health and start reducing your toxic load now! 💪 Your mitochondria—and your future self—will thank you. 🙏

Did you know mistletoe is more than just a Christmas decoration which has been a part of integrative cancer care for over a century? With over 2,600 scientific papers supporting its efficacy, this natural therapy continues to gain momentum worldwide as a powerful addition to cancer treatment.

Mistletoe therapy dates back to 1917, with its modern applications gaining popularity in the last 20 years. It’s widely used in Europe, particularly in Germany and major cancer centers, and is now expanding to Asia, South Africa, and the U.S.

Typically given as a subcutaneous injection or intravenously, Mistletoe therapy uses the extract of Viscum album (European mistletoe) to stimulate the immune system and enhance quality of life (QOL). It works on multiple levels by immune modulation, tumor inhibition, DNA stabilization, and exerting neuroendocrine effects to improve quality of life.

Mistletoe therapy offers a wide range of clinical benefits, including,Improved survival rates when combined with conventional therapies, reduced side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery (e.g., fatigue, nausea), enhanced immune function, helping to repair DNA and support recovery, as well as improved pain management, fatigue and cognitive function.

I’ve always said, prevention is the way. I have been reading the Emperor of All Maladies (incredible read for anyone in the oncology field or dealing with a cancering process), this book discusses not only the biology of cancer but how the fight against cancer has often been focused on treatment of the disease, but what if the real revolution lies in prevention?

We can’t control everything, but our choices today shape our health outcomes. Our current clinical model is unfortunately a broken one, a disease-centric one. Prevention isn’t just the cure, it’s desperately needed, and it’s the foundation of a future where we don’t just survive, but thrive.

Side effects from chemotherapy and radiation can cause severe nausea, fatigue, hair loss, pain, and immune suppression. And these are just a few examples of what patients endure as part of the “standard of care”. Yet, I countlessly see when these side effects are discussed with patients, it’s often in a dismissive or impersonal way, as though they are just part of the process. The unfortunate reality is that these side effects can dramatically reduce a persons quality of life and even lead to long-term health complications.

Rose Kushner’s (breast cancer patient, activist, and journalist) powerful words from the 70s still resonate today, highlighting a harsh truth about conventional cancer treatments. While chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery have undeniably saved countless lives, the toll they take on patients is often disregarded and sadly overlooked.

This is an area where there is growing recognition of the importance of integrative medicine, which combines conventional cancer treatments with complementary therapies to address both the body and mind. Integrative approaches, like nutritional and metabolic support, IV therapy, mistletoe, mind-body practices, acupuncture, and homeopathic or herbal therapies, have been shown to not only improve treatment outcomes but also reduce side effects.

Integrative medicine isn’t a replacement for traditional cancer treatments; rather, it offers a holistic support system, helping patients feel better physically and emotionally, and often enhancing the body’s ability to fight the disease, restore the terrain, and improve outcomes.

It’s time to shift the conversation—we should not just focus on surviving cancer, but thriving through it, and more importantly not suffering through it.
