Tucson Rescue Now is such a great place to see and interact with shelter dogs. Many are coming from Pima Animal Care Center and as we know, the shelter environment is very stressful for many homeless dogs. What you may see in the shelter is not indicative of that pet's personality and behavior. TRN provides a much needed respite in a more relaxed environment to allow these pets a chance to decompress and shine. β™₯️🐾

Achilies wasn't with us very long! Just about an hour or two yesterday. :)

He went to his new home and we wish he and his new family lots of great memories together! Best wishes Achilies. After a couple of visits through the shelter, we hope this adoption 'sticks' for you and you have finally found your forever home!

Achilies is adoption # 356!

Happy Friday! Some thoughts from your local licensed massage therapist. 😊
Slowing down and deepening your breath to 5-7 breaths per minute will activate your vagus nerve. Your vagus nerve is responsible for over 80% of parasympathetic nervous system stimulation. Your parasympathetic nervous system allows you to "rest and digest" and counteracts your sympathetic nervous system which is "fight or flight". Whenever you are feeling stressed, you can interrupt that fight or flight response by taking slow, deliberate deep breaths. We may not always be in control of life's stressors, but we can control how we respond to them.

"When it comes to health and well-being, regular exercise is about as close to a magic potion as you can get.” Tich Nhat Hanh

As we are entering cold, flu and what may now be C-19 season, a gentle reminder of the benefits of regular exercise for your immune system. For almost 2 years many of us have been under prolonged stress and anxiety. Prolonged stress and anxiety will result in elevated levels of cortisol that will inhibit our immune system. Immune cells become less efficient at responding to a specific invader, like bacteria or viruses and therefore are compromised in mounting a specific antibody response to that invader.
Regular exercise helps preserve immunity because it mitigates the stress aka sympathetic nervous system response. And physical activity will help sustain optimal immune function and prevent immune decrements that come with aging and increased body fat percentages.
As a 52 year old woman, regular physical activity is paramount. Yesterday was an amazing day to get outside. My parking lot was the location to work out and soak up the Vitamin D while taking in Pusch Ridge. Sweat, sun and sustained activity are necessary to keep your body and mind working optimally. Exercise doesn't have to be crazy or constant balls to the wall. The key is consistency. One step at a time moves us closer to better health and wellness. Happy Flex Saturday! πŸ’ͺβ˜€οΈπŸ’¦

Good morning and Happy Monday, everyone! First off, a big THANK YOU to Pamela Lmt of Unwind Therapeutics, her clients and our clients for their donations for The Endurance Project . Their first backpack build was a success! Lots of volunteers came out to the Catalina Brewing Company to help with the assembly, so another round of thanks for all who came, donated and helped! Our office will continue to accept donations until Dec 22. Most needed items are backpacks and sleeping bags.
Second, I will be collecting items for The Damaged Ones Animal Rescue . This newer, local rescue specializes in severely abused, neglected and medical case dogs from Mexico, specifically Sonora. Beans' vet, Twin Peaks Veterinary Center 's "Unleash Joy" is the initiator for fundraising and donation collection for The Damaged Ones. If their location in Marana is more convenient for you please feel free to drop off at their location. In the meantime, read the below requested items and drop off at my office. I will be collecting until Dec 22 and will then drop off to Twin Peaks.
Lastly, I know this year coupled with last year has been extremely challenging to say the least. Most charities and rescues have been equally challenged to raise funds and receive much needed donations. Every little bit helps. Many hands make light work to keep our community thriving. πŸ€—πŸŽ„πŸŽ‰πŸ‘β€οΈ
