Is the Tucson heat stalling your healing? 🌵☀️
In the desert, we’re used to everything drying out, but your wound shouldn't be one of them.
Clinical research shows that wounds heal up to 50% faster in a "moist" environment. When a wound is exposed to Tucson’s low-humidity air, it undergoes desiccation (extreme drying). This creates a hard, dry scab that actually traps "stuck" cells and prevents new skin from growing underneath.

Dr. Monash’s Desert Healing Tips:
1️⃣ Avoid "Airing it Out": Exposure to dry air creates a barrier of dead tissue. Keep it covered!
2️⃣ Use Advanced Dressings: We use specialized bandages that lock in moisture while letting the skin breathe.
3️⃣ Hydrate the Perimeter: Keep the skin around the wound hydrated to prevent cracking and secondary infections.

At the Wound Center of Tucson, we use hospital-grade protocols designed to thrive in our unique climate. 🩺

Want to speed up your recovery? Look for the bright colors! 🍊🫑

Bell peppers and citrus fruits are powerhouses of Vitamin C. Your body cannot produce collagen, the protein that gives your new skin its strength, without it. If you’re struggling with a wound that stays "stuck," a Vitamin C boost might be the spark your body needs.

How to incorporate:
- Squeeze fresh lemon or lime into your water daily.
- Slice up raw bell peppers for a sweet, crunchy snack with hummus.
- Swap your afternoon treat for a fresh orange or grapefruit.

Healthy skin needs Vitamin C. Let’s get you back to 100%. ☀️

Has it been a month? 🗓️

In the world of healing, we live by the 4-Week Rule: If a wound hasn’t shown significant improvement after 30 days, it is officially considered "chronic."

At this point, your body’s natural healing process has stalled, and waiting longer only increases the risk of infection or further complications.

Dr. Jeff Monash and the team at the Wound Center of Tucson specialize in restarting the clock. Whether you visit our clinic or we bring our mobile care to your home, we provide the advanced treatments needed to get you back to your life.

Don't let the calendar keep turning. Let’s get you healed.

From Army medic to nurse practitioner, Marianne Parham’s journey has always been about caring for others.

After serving eight years in the U.S. Army, Marianne built a career in healthcare that spans family medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedics, dermatology and more. Today at the Wound Center of Tucson, she uses that experience to help patients heal from complex wounds and chronic conditions.

For Marianne, healing is always a team effort. “It’s not just me, the patient has to want it. I’m just part of their journey.”

We’re proud to have her serving patients alongside Dr. Jeff Monash and our dedicated team.

The "Zinc Link" to healing!

When it's time to repair tissue and fight off infection, your body looks for one specific mineral: Zinc.

At the Wound Center of Tucson, we often see that a boost in dietary zinc can be the "secret ingredient" to speeding up skin cell production. Zinc helps your body process proteins and fats that are vital for new skin growth, essentially acting as a shield for your healing wound.

Zinc-Rich "Healing Bowl" Add-ins:
🌻 Seeds & nuts: Pumpkin seeds are a Tucson favorite and packed with zinc!
🥬 Dark leafy greens: Spinach and kale provide the base for a repair-focused meal.
🥩 Lean proteins: Beef or legumes (beans/lentils) ensure your body has the building blocks it needs.

What zinc-rich foods are you adding to your plate this weekend? 🥣
