Saturday mornings hit different when you’re a special needs parent.

While everyone else is sleeping in and making brunch plans — you’re already up. Already problem solving. Already giving everything you have before most people have even had their first cup of coffee.

And you do it without being asked. Without complaining. Without anyone truly understanding how much strength that actually takes.

So if nobody has said it to you today — we will.

You are incredible. Not because you have it all together. But because you show up every single day even when you don’t. 💛

How are you spending your Saturday? We’d love to know 👇

A lot of people will never fully understand what caregivers do every day.

The patience it takes.
The strength it takes.
The way they keep going, even when they’re exhausted.

Showing up.
Again and again.

Because someone depends on them.

If you’re a caregiver, this is for you.
You might not hear it enough, but what you do matters.

And if you know one, don’t wait for a special day—
appreciate them now. 💙

Someone I love is autistic, and that love lives in the small moments every day.
In the smiles, the growth, the quiet connection.
The things most people might miss, but that mean everything.

Happy New Week

Not all progress is loud.
Some of the biggest breakthroughs happen in moments most people would overlook.

This week, pay attention to the little shifts—
the effort, the attempts, the courage to try again.

That’s where real growth lives.

Keep going. It’s working, even if it’s quiet.

What you think you see isn’t always the full story.
Autistic individuals feel deeply, connect differently, and shine uniquely.
Let’s spread awareness, not stereotypes.

Together, we can build a world where autistic individuals are understood, accepted, and included not judged by misconceptions.✨

Meet Adan — our Pillar of Empowerment and Featured DSP of the Month! 🏆

Adan was born in Mexico and moved to the U.S. at age 6 — an experience that shaped his deep appreciation for growth and opportunity. He became a DSP during the 2020 lockdown because he wanted to pursue meaningful work and support others during a challenging time.
Adan is especially inspired by his client B’s positivity and resilience, and finds fulfillment in the small daily victories that add up to something truly powerful.
When he’s not supporting his clients, you can find Adan on the basketball court — he just wrapped up his first season as assistant coach for Lake Oswego’s 8th grade boys team! 🏀
Adan, your heart for people, your dedication, and your commitment to growth make you an incredible part of our team. We are so grateful you’re part of the Empowered Services family.

For many individuals with IDD, social interaction isn’t natural.

It’s something they learn, step by step, with patience and support.

Small, consistent routines as:
• practicing simple greeting
• Taking turns in games
• Being included in meals prep

These little moments may seem small to you…
but to them, they’re everything.

Progress might be quiet.
Slow.
Even invisible some days.

But it’s happening.

Keep showing up. 💜

New week. New wins. 🤍

What might look small to others can mean everything here.
Progress isn’t always loud, it shows up in the little moments, the quiet victories, and the steps forward that take real courage.

We celebrate all of it.

What’s a win you’re proud of this week? 👇

🐣 It’s finally here. Easter Egg Hunt Day!

Today’s the day! We’re excited to finally welcome everyone to our 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt with Empowered Services.

What started as a simple idea, just wanting to create a fun day, has turned into something really special. It’s now a day where families, individuals, and support staff can come together, relax, and just enjoy the moment.

What to expect:

• Egg hunting with a few surprises along the way
• Golden egg prizes
• A small craft area
• Face painting
• Fishing by the pond
• A sensory-friendly space so everyone can feel comfortable

We’ve tried to keep things simple, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

💛 Why this matters:

It’s not just about the activities.
It’s about seeing people smile, families spending time together, and everyone getting a chance to just be.

Caregivers often carry more than anyone sees.
This is your reminder to pause, breathe, and take care of yourself too.
You don’t have to do everything perfectly to be doing enough.

Autism doesn’t always show up the way people expect. Many early signs are subtle and often misunderstood as behaviour issues. The earlier it’s recognised, the sooner the right support can begin.

If you notice these signs in a child, don’t wait or assume it will pass, speak to a professional and seek proper assessment and guidance.

Early understanding can make a meaningful difference in the autism journey.
It shapes how support is given, received, and experienced.

Here are 10 important things every caregiver should know early about autism:

1. Autism is not something to “fix”, it’s something to understand.

2. Progress won’t always look the way you imagined.

3. Communication goes beyond words, it can be expressed in many ways.

4. Meltdowns are not misbehavior — they are responses to overwhelm.

5. Routine provides comfort and a sense of stability.

6. Every small milestone matters.

7. Comparison can take away from your unique journey.

8. Seeking support is an important part of caregiving.

9. Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of them.

10. You are better than you think, even on the difficult

You’re learning. You’re showing up. And that counts.
