Lollipop-
My Grandma drove by while me and my siblings were playing in our neighbors driveway, it was a sweet Halloween day. She calls to us grasping our attention from the playground games we partook in that afternoon, we run over to see what she has and she gives each one of us a orange and black festive lollipop for the occasion.
I remember the happiness I felt when she handed it to meโฆ the sudden goosebumps I got when I went to unwrap it carefully to avoid it being harmed. Finally, unwrapped and ready to taste the sugary sweetness it awakened in my soulโฆ I danced around praising the lollipop and headed over to the older boy that was hanging out with us and the neighborhood friends, I guess I mustโve been a bother him to the point I remember the fear I felt in my heart when he snatched the lollipop from my hands and slammed it onto the pavement. Bursting into tears I couldnโt believe my eyes, Something so precious shattered so instantly. I suppose the events from that day then showed as a metaphor for what else that older boy would take from me.
That the lollipop acted as a decoy to what he would then break as time went on, and would be so severe itโll cause a shift in the way I presented myself among the world and around my peers.
The sick boy broke my lollipop, and shattered my soul.
