EOBNA supporting the Alzheimer's Diversity Outreach Services 2026 Out of Africa Healthy Brain Strategies Event. The event serves as a major fundraiser and a platform to raise awareness about the high risk of Alzheimer's in the BIPOC community. The program has been active for nearly two decades, working to eliminate the stigma associated with memory loss and connecting families to crucial resources. Thank you for all the you do Rev. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 We’re proud of the work and contributions you are making to our profession JP!!

Black nurses have always been at the heart of nursing’s progress, transforming the profession through their dedication to care and their fight for justice. From the early trailblazers who paved the way against all odds to the modern leaders who inspire us today, their impact is woven into the very fabric of medicine. ONA is proud to celebrate this enduring legacy by honoring the Black nursing leaders in Oklahoma who are currently leading the way for the next generation.

Today, we are honored to highlight Julia “JP” Profit-Williams, MHA, BSN, the Associate Director of Preventive Health at the Tulsa Health Department. With a distinguished twenty-seven-year career, JP oversees all clinical operations for the Tulsa City-County Health Department, ensuring that public health remains a priority for the community. Her journey is marked by academic excellence, with degrees from Rogers University, Oklahoma City University, and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University, along with a leadership certificate from Duke University.

JP is a fierce advocate for health equity, dedicating her work to addressing the social disparities that impact life expectancy in marginalized communities. Beyond her executive leadership, she serves on the boards of the Oklahoma Nurses Association and the Oklahoma Center for Nursing, while also mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals through Youth Medical Mentorship. We celebrate JP for her admirable commitment to protecting and empowering BIPOC communities in healthcare spaces.

New Day. Same Dream.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by remembering that the dream of justice, equality, and dignity for all is still alive. Each new day gives us another chance to choose courage over comfort, love over hate, and action over silence. May we keep moving forward together, carrying the dream into everything we do.

Recently, The Midwifery Project gathered together with leaders from Oklahoma’s birthing hospitals in Norman, OK to explore midwifery integration as a strategic solution to expand maternal healthcare access, improve outcomes and strengthen the hospital workforce.

Hosted by The Midwifery Project and other stakeholders including the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and the Oklahoma Hospital Association, the symposium was an energizing day of strategy, connection and shared commitment aimed at reducing costs, addressing provider shortages and advancing care for Oklahoma families during pregnancy and childbirth.

The Midwifery Project is dedicated to building Oklahoma’s midwifery capacity and expanding access to all families. Visit The Midwifery Project - Tulsa to learn more.
