Screen time isn’t just about how long kids are on devices. It’s about what they’re consuming and how they’re using screens to cope.

In OK State of Mind, Dr. Stevan Lahr and Jessica Wrest, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at FCS, share why content, context, and emotional regulation matter more than minutes alone, and how screen boundaries can quickly escalate into real family challenges.

Timing is everything when it comes to positive reinforcement for children. The right words at the right moment can build confidence and support healthy emotional growth.

Praise children immediately after a positive action to strengthen the connection between what they did and your encouragement. Celebrate small wins each day, recognize their unique qualities and be specific so they understand what they did well.

Every child deserves to feel seen and valued. Let’s keep uplifting them.
