A message from our Chaplain, Scott Gordon on this beautiful Tuesday.
I do not talk about this part of my life enough, but it has shaped me in ways I cannot fully explain.
For years now, I have had the honor of serving as a chaplain with Miller Hospice.
Walking into rooms where families are facing some of the hardest moments of their lives
Sitting beside beds where time is short
Holding hands that are weak but still full of life
You learn something different in those moments
You learn what really matters
Out there, people are chasing money, titles, status, and recognition
But in these rooms, none of that comes up
What comes up is love
What comes up is forgiveness
What comes up is peace with God
I have watched people take their last breath
And I have seen the difference between fear and faith
I have prayed with families who were strong
And I have sat with families who were broken
And in all of it, one thing is clear
Life is not about how much you accumulate
It is about how you live, how you love, and how you prepare your soul
Being a chaplain has taught me to slow down
To listen more
To be present
To value people over everything
It has reminded me that every day is a gift
Every conversation matters
Every opportunity to love someone is important
So today I just want to say this
Do not wait until the end to fix what can be healed now
Do not wait until the end to say what needs to be said
Do not wait until the end to get right with God
Because life is shorter than we think
But purpose is still available every single day
Serving in hospice has not made me afraid of death
It has made me more intentional about life
And for that
I am grateful
