We won't be having winter temps this week, but this is Oklahoma, and cold temperatures are just around the corner!

If you are celebrating with family and friends in Oklahoma, enjoy warm temperatures. So warm you can pull out the grill and dine outside!

The holidays can be a difficult time for those experiencing grief. Our grief support group meets every Tuesday at our Southlawn location, 9350 East 51st Street , from 3-4 p.m. This week they enjoyed a special holiday fellowship with a Christmas party.

IT'S NATIONAL BAKE COOKIES DAY!

Bake Cookies Day, a December 18 holiday, comes at an opportune time. It arrives amidst the major December holidays. It serves as a reminder to bake holiday cookies if you haven’t done so already. People, young and old, celebrate this day by baking their favorite cookies. Make a party of it, and bake cookies in groups with family, friends, kids, and grandkids. Don’t stop at baking just one kind of cookie. Plan to bake several varieties of cookies. Try a new recipe, or two, or three, or….

TULSA CHRISTMAS PARADE TODAY!

It's that time again! The 2025 Christmas Parade is TODAY at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Tulsa. This year's theme is "Oklahome for Christmas. The parade will feature over 100 floats and several new additions this year. Santa will even have a microphone to interact with the paradegoers this year! Mrs. Claus will also be making her debut this year. Get there early and bundle up! The parade route begins on 6th Street.

IT'S NATIONAL CHRISTMAS CARD DAY!

Is your Christmas card list up to date? Christmas Card Day is a December 9 holiday. This holiday honors Sir Henry Cole (1818 – 1874) of England. Cole created the first commercial Christmas Card in 1843. It grew into a popular holiday tradition. People created a list of all friends and family members. The number of cards you received became a source of pride. And, you had to send a card out to everyone who sent you one. As a result, the list grew year after year. Some people had a list of 50 to 100 people or more. The cards were prominently displayed on walls and sometimes hung on a string across the room. It became a holiday decoration of sorts.

So, enjoy getting your holiday greetings out to family and friends!

The annual Tulsa Veterans Day parade begins at 11:00 a.m. , starting at 3rd and Cincinnati. A number of area businesses and restaurants are hosting special events all day today, including free meals and special discounts.

Our Story

Our family has been taking care of Tulsa's families for a long time. Moores started in Claremore and moved to Tulsa by the courage and vision of a man from New Jersey. Moores has become one of our city's most respected enterprises, embodying the spirit that helped this city become such a wonderful place to live. Even before they introduced their 50₡ a month Full Family Funeral Plan (often taking chickens and other things in trade when money was really tight) they were here for the Tulsa community when they were needed most. The Moores have done so with compassion, courage and commitment, the cornerstone of generations of service to this community.

James Herbert Moore and sons, William M. and John Foreman, founded Moore Undertakers in the early 1900’s. Later they were associated with Musgrove Funeral Home of Claremore. In 1929 they moved to Tulsa and became Moore’s Morticians. In 1932 they became Moore Funeral Home. Dr. Joseph Moore now oversees the operation of four Tulsa facilities. Elaine Moore-Jones is the manager of Moore’s Southlawn Chapel. The Moore family has worked to insure that Tulsa families have someone they can count on when they need them the most.

Our family has been taking care of Tulsa’s families. providing quality service and value, for a long time and that’s the way it should be. Because of the Moores in Tulsa, that’s the way it will continue to be.
